Windows Cannot Access Specified File 2021 December

Windows Cannot Access The Specified

A few months ago I was playing my Sims 4 and all of a sudden I got this message from my PC to block or ignore the game. Not knowing what it was, I blocked it. Now the game says "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I have tried everything from deleting the origin cache files to repairing and updating the game to even asking help from tech support and not even they can fix it. I was wondering if I should call someone from EA to fix it for me. What do I do? I'm losing hope and really am missing the game.

I just tried it and it didnt work. Thanks for trying to help. How do I add exceptions for the game and origin?

@kemistrysimmer  If you have Avast, AVG, or Sophos, instructions for adding exceptions are in the post I linked.  If you have a different antivirus, you'll need to look up instructions for it.  Most programs have user guides on the publisher's website.

Please also let me know which antivirus, if any, you're using.

@puzzlezaddict I thought I had windows defender which I think I do but I tried the instructions for the controlled folders and it didn't work. Also is it possible to call EA to help me fix this because I have no idea if it's a problem on my end or EA's end

@kemistrysimmer  This is definitely a problem on your end.  The error message makes that clear, plus if it were an EA issue, you wouldn't be the only person reporting it right now.  But if you'd like help from EA customer support, you can submit a request here:

    https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/

Depending on the category you choose and the time of day, you may see have different contact options, but live chat should always be available as long as you set your location (in the upper right corner of the browser window) to U.S. or U.K.  Live chat is also free, unlike a phone call.  I'd recommend starting the chat on your phone or another device that isn't the computer you play Sims 4 on: the support rep may ask you to restart your computer, which would end the chat if it were on that device.
