So, people actually purchasing the game and participating actively and mostly constructively in the game's own forums accomplished nothing, but a social media blitz made them quake in their boots. That's informative.
It actually makes a lot of sense.
Twitter is more relevant as a platform . It’s more engaging.’The Sims’ is there because so are a lot of their fans . In fact a ton more simmers are active there , than here.
But I’d also like to add that simmers on Twitter are every bit as valid as simmers that share their opinions *here* .
And yes, an uprising on social media is not something most companies want for their brand.
I'm a simmer and I hardly ever use twitter and all my friends don't even use theirs.
That’s fine . But many including myself, are there.
It’s honestly their job to engage with their player base. Them not being on Twitter would actually make less sense.
That's not really their job though. That's the job of the marketing team and the community manager and the mods here. They are producers, programmers and artists, they are paid to make a product. If EA pays them extra to boast on twitter, I don't know. Lindsay handled it well though...it seems impossible to appease to that crowd.
It is their job. Thats why they do it. This forum isnt the only place where they need to interact with their fan base and communicate with their players about whats going on. Again, maybe some of you dont realize this, but The Sims has millions of players and they *arent* all here .
Its puzzling to me why the people on this forum keep insisting that only the forum matters, its absurd.
I'm pretty sure they're insisting the forums should matter seeing as this is the official Sims forum which is completely ignored by the Sims team unless Ninja pops around just before a pack release. - DaraviNew Traveler

The sims team reactions on concerns or ingame problems in the forum is similar to a tumbleweed in a western movie. The hundreds of nap complains, and it stays silent. Fresh news comes mainly from other players who follow twitter, not from the team itself. Broken banner news and notifications since weeks speak a clearly language to me.
Basically I expect the moment anytime soon where they are going close this forum forever. At least this would be honest in the end. - NetzspannungSeasoned NewcomerThis is going to sound weird, but to me the forum has never been about communicating with the simgurus. It was always about giving and receiving help and inspiration from fellow simmers.
And yes, due to the dominance of Social Media the simgurus connect with players much less on the forums then they do on Twitter, but this is not a phenomenon specific to The Sims. "Daravi;c-17612920" wrote:

That's something I'm still quite upset with. Every teaser, hint or Q&A about future packs happens on Twitter and then you have Simmers here who create a thread, sort it and try to keep the information in one place on the official Sims forum for all the Simmers who don't follow 20+ Gurus for every piece of information regarding bugs, fixes or upcoming content.
At least they posted a transcript here this time, but Twitter was still their first choice to post information about the skin tone issue. And you can't even discuss it under the post here because announcement posts are locked, so other users have to open threads about it again. Come on.- Peapod79New SpectatorI agree that they should post all the same announcements here as on twitter. However, I do have to agree with @Netzspannung as well. I've never once thought the forums were a place for me to connect with Guru's but rather a service provided to us to connect with other simmers. We don't even bug report here! That goes to EA. I've always thought of it as more a treat if a Guru shows up in a thread! They do read the feedback section though, even if they're not always commenting on it and I see them often in the bug reports over at EA AnswersHQ.
There's not enough time in a day for them to work their full time job working on the game, read all the forums and answer everything, and other social medias. It would be unreasonable to expect them to do any of this outside office hours, although I do suspect that some do. Personally, I'd rather them keep working on the game and updates and bug fixes than answering my post on here. - Spots_ALotNew SpectatorI'm interested to see their definition of "fixing" the skins. To be honest, looked up the #EAListen tag on Twitter and didn't see anything that was really an improvement on Maxis skins, in spite of what the simmers on Twitter believed. Are they gonna go for that overly matte, almost-flat look? That overly glowing, shiny look? I'm not a fan of either.
If people end up liking what the Sims team comes up with, I'll eat my hat lol. "Atreya33;c-17611659" wrote:
It is great to hear they are working on it. I hope we get more variety."LiELF;c-17611377" wrote:
Nice. I hope we are getting more soft pale tones too, most of them are reddish pink or yellowish. There are many white international cultures who don't have proper skin tones in the game either. If they're going to do it, do it big and do it right so they won't have to do it again.
I'm especially glad to hear that they will be fixing the current darker skin tones because those have gone ignored for far too long. I look forward to my Sims looking as smooth and as gorgeous as their paler counterparts. <3
I completely agree. I always use the same two pale skin tones for my pale sims so I really hope the pale skin tones get some attention as well. I would appreciate any skintone improvement, both on light and dark skin tones.
I am also looking forward to most hair colours. More brown tones or dark blonde are very welcome.
In a perfect scenario toddlers and children should get the unnatural hair colors as well so my pink haired mermaid can pass on her hair colour to her children. In a game where unnatural skin tones are genetic, hairs should be as well. But I don't think we will be that lucky. Besides an update for the realistic choices are more needed.
I would love more hair colors too. There is no burgundy and dark purple in the game other than the touches of it with ombre swatches. I wouldn't mind the human Sims getting some of the unnatural skin colors too that the supernaturals have. Honestly I hope they carry over the color wheel from pets over to Sims. People say that it was the color wheels' fault for the Sims 3 lag when it was really the design swatches and custom designs causing the bulk of the lag, so swatches aren't always the best solution for game performance. Sometimes I wish we could turn off styled looks too because over time those are causing some lag in the Sims 4 too especially in the female adult CAS. I hope that babies-elders get more skin and hair options.- Amazing how this is ignored until their social media rep, and by extension their potential bottom line, is threatened.
