Future Update Ideas/ Current thoughts on Micro Transactions/Everyone Read!

I've been enjoying the sims mobile since it has released, it's a very well made game and EA should be proud of what they have created. Probably the best aspect of the game so far is the ability to host parties and having the chat option to talk to other players. Although very insignificant at the moment I can feel moments like these becoming a great option to build the game upon. I'm currently level 27 and hope to get to 40 by the end of April if it isn't extremely difficult. I have been playing the sims since the release almost 20 years ago. Now these are only opinions of mine but I feel with any luck of EA, Maxis or whoever reads this will take it to heart if it's even read at all.

I. A: Current MicroTransactions - While fair and very basic I hardly feel the need to spend money in this game because I know once i'm level 40 items once offered for money will be unlocked to me. The only thing I see worth buying is cupcakes, which isn't a necessity. The Ducky Hot Tub event, while great for lucky players, and painful for unlucky players was generally good. However being able to buy loot boxes without the guarantee of a new item, made it feel pointless to buy. (This is of course personal, however im sure a lot of people feel the same way.)

B: Suggested Future MicroTransactions - I would suggest a premium service that expands the best parts of the game. For 9.99 a month you will not only receive cupcakes, but you will also receive exclusive items from premium events, you can host 3 premium parties a week, as well as have more Premium stories with even greater rewards. Just make the game an overall more enjoyable and whole experience while allowing the freedom to interact with other players more, if not all the time.

II. A: Current State of the Game/ Perceived Future - Similar to the Sims Freeplay, i'm sure we will eventually have two stories, I'm sure we will have more storylines. More Quests, More Events, More items, Maybe even transgender sims. Teenagers. PETS! This is all obvious and has already been done. Which isn't a bad thing. However, it's just seems like future updates may not have anything to be extremely excited for. Special Events like the movie night were a giant let down, my first special event (Movie Night). I expected to be similar to a party, but with a movie playing.

    B: Suggested Future -

    1. More Depth to unplayable characters: Still Playing up the Multiplayer aspect of the game, I would like to see stories and events for unplayable characters. (Retired,Children, Moved Out.) Even if it's just a picture of them with some writing on what they did yesterday and how it affected them and what they should do today. I would like to imagine once a sim moves out they still have a life going on. Even if I only get to hear about it once a day.

     2. Special events are actually special: Special events should be interactive, not only should they be similar to parties, but you should want to be there. Whether you get some special perk or item. Like the speed dating Event should actually start with a mini game where you pick from a list of traits your sims has (Favorite food, Favorite Llamas in Pajamas character etc.) And how it matches with other sims in the event. The % or best match should get a bonus for any flirting activities during event with that sim allowing you to progress quickly through a romantic levels for the duration of the event.

     3. Parties should be more interactive/ Not just parties: A casino where you can sit down and play mini games with other sims, I feel pretty much covers the jist of what I see as something simple yet innovative. Playing sim poker, or Sim Rock Paper Scissors I feel would be incredibly simple to make. And participating in a game night allows you to receive a currency that can I only be used during that night to purchase items within the sims appearance store. Or some kind of game night loot box. Which can't be bought with real currency.

4Multiplayer Stories: Once a week or once a month, a group of sims find themselves in weird adventures, helping an alien find its spaceship. Or working together to figure who really stole the cookies from the cookie jar. Or Explore a haunted house. I guess in my mind it may count as an event. But also stories in general, I would like to see people who interact with my sim to progress a story, give me the option to either change the progression of the story by doing some action, in return with the sim.

C: Closing words - The Sims mobile even in its current early form is a great creation, and pride should be taken for creating it. However I urge you, to not continue as if the game is a new start for sims freeplay but to give the Sims Mobile a chance to be its own interactive adventure. I know allowing an online aspect in to much depth can allow for toxic players, to abuse the game. Which is why i'm urging you EA to consider the ability to purchase a monthly premium. Make the game closer to other games like IMVU however with more structured direction can build the community into some the Sims has never had before.I'm sure what i'm asking for is not impossible or expensive, just give any idea a chance and i'm sure you will this game flourish. If someone who has any control over the development of this game reads this, thank you so much for taking time out of your day.

Suggestion: Every three-five loot boxes purchased you should get an item of your choice.

  • These are not bad suggestions at all, but the day any mobile game becomes $10/month to play is the day I delete it and never play again, regardless of what the money unlocks.

You would essentially have the same game you have now, however for 9.99 which is the price of anything in the game for the most part you get to enjoy the suggested multiplayer experience.

This is the closest I've ever seen anyone come to saying "you know what the problem with this game is? Poor people can have just a much fun with it as I can!" I get that you have money burning a hole in your pocket and are frustrated at the lackof really cool things that can only be gotten for real money, but for some of us, that's why we play this game.

I'm sure 99% of the player base can afford 10 dollars, also EA has to make money somehow or else their is no reason for them to sink money into this game.

So ... this is my (personal) issue with your suggestion. While the majority of the userbase is likely to be able to afford $10 here and there, a monthly subscription comes out to $120/yearly. Again, this is for a mobile game. A mobile game that is already having issues with longevity and retention, judging by the complaints about not being able to contact other players to trade sims. And I do not want to spend what is the financial equivalent of multiple Stuff Packs, a Game Pack and an EP for the infinitely more customizable desktop game on a mobile game that can, for all intents and purposes, play itself if you direct the characters correctly. I would also have a big problem with paying additional moneys to be guaranteed premium items when the game's current economy is what it is. I just realized that I have two sims in a household working at level 10 jobs who still cannot afford to buy a full suite of even mid-range furniture, let alone higher-end items. There are single clothing items that cost more than entire basic sets of collections. There are single game items that are priced at 1/4 or higher of the cost of a $10 premium cash pack. Until that is changed (or simcash becomes a bit easier to come by), I'm really not too interested in a subscription package.

Now, if the developers want to put out more simcash/premium token packs, I'm all for those. I purchased the last two offered (cupcake + cash, Izzy tokens + cash) and have no complaints.

Despite you saying you have an issue with my suggestion, you agreed. Retention does seem to be a problem, and the grind does seem to be comparable to Pokemon go. Prices do get worse as you reach end game with land expansions costing 30,000+ simloneans.
But the focus shouldn't be on trying to afford items, but on completing stories.

Syarun, while I agree in principle with you on your Section B suggestions, I seriously doubt many will be implemented. As a 40+ year programmer and manager, I can tell you that what might seem easy may be very difficult to implement in a way that pays back. Sad fact, EA is not out to make a game we love to play, especially in the mobile space; they are out to maximize profit. Also, subscriptions don't make money... RNG loot boxes, scale-up costs that encourage Real Money purchase, and "cosmetic" (Pay2Win) micro-transactions are how they hook the whales.

I'm enjoying this game a lot, expect to put some time into it, but I don't think I'll be playing it very hard (if at all) in a year's time.
