- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@AverageSimRacer I’ve always wished for this but became I use wheel. But as I’m British I’m used to driving right hand drive cars. Majority of cars In race games are left hand and having driven a few million miles in my lifetime. Sitting on the left is something I struggle with
Totally agree, I am also English too. I post a fair few youtube videos and left hand drive cars with a right hand drive orientated rig ruins the immersion. I think it's something that developers need to consider with today's sims wanting more realism.
From what I could see you can't even choose left or right within car builder. I hoped that would be my work around
I guess this option will not be done simply because the original cars are this way or the other, there is no option.
But I would really appreciate it the configuration of the wheel is somehow visible in the car selection menu. I think a small steering wheel pictogram in the pictogram of the drive train and engine configuration would do it very well.I presume that also, but you can't even choose right or left in the car builder mode?
It's one frustrating feature as 95% of the cars are left hand drive
I m totally agree even if I have the inverse problem. I'm French and I understand what you re facing, three of my favorite cars, 205, 309 and the escort mk2 are right hand in game and for me it's impossible to drive it as fast as I would like too. Making mirror of the inside of the cars is very easy, even for me who's not a 3d specialist, I've made it for some cars in Assetto Corsa so it it should be possible for professionals isn't it?
I thought about this topic a few more times and I think I have a solution that should be great for games and acknowledge the original cars:
A simple camera position that mirrors the main helmet or dashboard cam, and nothing more. Just another camera position. The missing speedometer is no problem because the hud (a solution the real live doesn’t provide, but it’s a videogame, so we should use it).

@alphastratusWeirdly in the F1 games you can adjust the camera laterally. Far left or right from central position. Where it isn’t much use and Id doubt anyone would want it. But as you suggest would be beneficial in this game.

Nope, I don't agree. If the car in real life was left or right hand drive, then for the sake of realism, that's what it must be in-game. Obviously some players will be used to one side or the other in reality but also some players may not even drive a real car at all, whether it due to age or other factors. And if your rig is setup with a shifter on the right, for example, why would you want to move it across to the other side each time you use a different car?
You just have to adapt to whatever you're driving. It also depends which camera view you use, if you're not in cockpit view and use bonnet cam then it's irrelevant. If you do use cockpit and it's left hand drive then you can see a right turn more clearly, and vice versa.
Yes in other games you can move the internal camera across the cockpit, like in ACC, but not sure why you'd really do it.
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@widdler However apart from a few off these cars. All of them are available in both Left and right hand drive in real life. Each actual driver I would assume would be able to choose their preference.

Yes in real life, for different countries, the road cars are available in either configuration but they're not gonna produce both variants for multiple team members in team.
As for the historic cars, the devs will have used whichever model was most prevalent to render in game
