[AA] Formative Moments Wants ignoring gameplay settings

Wants & Fears introduced in Adventure Awaits are disregarding my Gameplay settings. I have "Show Wants & Fears" unchecked, and yet AA want prompts appear regardless. Of particular annoyance is the "Acquire a Childhood Formative Moment as an Adult" prompt that will inevitably appear for all adult Sims until a Formative Moment is selected for that Sim.

I'd prefer to decide for myself when or even if I'd like a given Sim to select a Formative Moment trait without having the game continually pestering me. I shouldn't even be seeing Wants pop up at all with the option to display them unchecked.

  • Hi BarMaster71

formative moments are a separate system. They are not part of the want/fear system.

Could you post a pic of the want you're getting for them ? What fears are you getting ?

I understand what Formative Moments are, but nonetheless, there have been new wants added to the game that relate to AA specific gameplay. One such want reads: "Acquire a Childhood Formative Moment as an Adult" with instructions to visit the Rewards Store in the Aspiration Panel, then purchase a Childhood Formative Moments Trait. I'm unable to post a picture at this time, and I don't know how to better explain it. Those words I typed in bold appear in a thought balloon above the Sims portrait just as any other want does.  Just like "Listen to Hip-Hop Music" or "Meet Someone New." But as I mentioned, I have Wants & Fears disabled.

Sims are getting the Aquire a Childhood Formative Moment as an Adult Want even when Wants & Fears are disabled in settings.

    Yes, that's what I'm seeing.

And I'm not seeing fears. I only referred to it as "Wants & Fears" because that's what the  system or mechanic is called in the game. It's just Wants that are the issue. It's been doing that with other Wants as well (romantic Wants, largely) but I've dealt with that until now by turning Wants & Fears on and off again. It's not ideal, but that's how I've been getting rid of them.

This is different, though, because that Formative Moment Want is relentless. It keeps coming back. The only way to be permanently rid of it is to fulfill the want by doing as it instructs and choosing a trait. But I'd rather decide for myself when or even if I want a given Sim to choose one of those traits. I already know that the option is there and that I can exercise the option whenever I choose. I don't need the game busting through my settings just to keep pestering me about it.
