I don't have Get to Work so don't know how retail words, but in Cats and Dogs a fix I found is when a pet gets sick you can still go to the Maxis Brindleton Pawspital and buy a wellness treat from the vending machine and give treat to pet and they get better. Don't know a fix yet for if they go into heat for getting spayed. In CAS I tried making them "fixed" but they still went into heat, so just need to deal with pets potentially running away. It really takes away the fun of playing, I liked going to the vet clinic and getting examined, seeing other NPC show up, etc. I have a LOT of cats in my game.
