I just downloaded the recent update earlier in the day 4/29/25, which I presumed automatically turned off mods though I do play with a few script mods like UI cheats, MCCC, BBB and a UI color mod.

the save file trick does work, though it does cause my game to be extremely buggy. hoping EA and maxis will fix this soon.
