Crashes on Mainmenu

I apologize for my lack of engagement, it was my uni's finals week and I'm just now mentally recovering from that lol.

I'm going to try removing my saves and seeing if the game will load into the main menu to turn mods back on, but I'm curious with this method, does anybody else play with a main menu replacement mod? I just realized I'd been using a Sims 2 background override mod, but idk how these things work and whether that would be a specific trigger for this kind of problem since the mods are already turned off by big updates. Just thinking out loud. I'm desperate and will try doing what others have said has worked for them!
