I actually tried both methods; I did a 50/50 split. Some custom content (CC) worked and others didn't, then I realized that the CC that was preventing the application from opening worked after a few more tries. Realizing this, I stopped doing the 50/50 split and simply moved the folders into the mods folder. Then today, as I wrote in my first message, I didn't have to do that. I just cleared the application cache, repaired the game, deleted the cache and resource files, and it worked. Until I closed the game, everything is working perfectly. The problem is having to do this every time if it continues to work.

Same!! I've played Sims since 2010 and honestly the amount of times I've had my game break makes me want to claim compensation for my mental health. They supposedly "fixed" the cc issue after the update yet I've tried EVERYTHING and my game will not load unless I take all of my CC out of the game. Mods are fine. Annoyed is not the word but I bet you could guess what word I would use lmao. will let you know if I figure anything out

Thanks, but I already tried that and I'm still having the same problem. I think maybe has to do with the number of CC files because if it's low, it doesn't close, but if it's high... Sadly, it fails; sometimes it launch and sometimes it doesn't. It's a bit random
However, I've seen that some people experience this problem even without custom content or mods. But it definitely has to do with the most recent update; maybe it's a line of code that's wrong or something. Because I've truly tried everything, and honestly, now I'm just sad.

Same problem here, honestly, so annoying!!! Too much of my money has gone into this game that I am ashamed to admit how much. If you have found out how to fix this, please let me know, and if I find out what's causing it, I will try to remember to let u know.
vioganga That would be coincidental. The game does start for some people about 4 times out of 5 without making changes. Of those mods, only UI Cheats was broken (it's now updated), and it didn't block loading.

HI Katiardguez
I merged your post with the main thread.
Liyahcole The whole Sims 4 folder. And you send it to EA_Solaire, who posted that.
hollyw26 I suspect the topic is not being moved because it's really big and people coming to look for it, having heard where it is, would be upset to not find it. Plus it's about CC, so people tend to come to this Forum for it. There's also still a chance that there's something non-EA-created (mod-related software or a mod) that all the people who have this issue have in common that all the CC users who don't have the problem don't have, and that you had to have that before updating, or something like that. But EA is investigating! That's why they're asking for user folders in the pinned post at the top.

Glad to see all of the comments this morning. Maybe EA will do something about it.
This is what my experimenting has found this morning. I use Sims 4 Mod Manager for my >100gb of cc & mods. I manually "turn off" all of the cc, which the program does by renaming the .package files as .packageoff. Same for scripts. The folder structure is still there, just filled with cc files that have been renamed so that the Sims doesn't recognize them.
- I have reloaded all of my scripted mods and the game loads
- If I reload a cc folder with a low number of files, the game loads. This is doing it one folder at a time.
- If I reload a folder with a lot (>60 cc), the game fails to launch. However, re-adding cc from the same folder in smaller amounts seems to work.
- It only seems to be cc that is CAS related.
- Example. I use hair from a specific creator. I have 116 .package files in that folder. I did not change the folder or rename it like described in other comments.
- I reload all 116 at once. Game fails.
- I reload just 30. Game loads
- I reload 31-60. Game fails.
- I go back and reload 31-50. Game loads
- I reload 51-60. Game loads
- I reload 61-90. Game loads
- I reload 91-116. Game loads. I now have the game loading with all 116 cc that failed the game earlier.
- I then tried something else. I had a folder with a poseplayer mod in it. The folder has 335 total files, which is the pose player plus A LOT of different pose packs. I reload the whole folder with 335 files. Although the folder has mostly .package files, none of it is CAS-based cc. The game loads.
From what little I can tell, the game will not load if trying to add too much cc that is used in CAS. It is also inconsistent in how many cc can be added at a time. That said, I am not going to spend my entire day adding my 15,000 cc files at 10-30 a time. This is an EA problem and they need to fix it. It is not a creator problem.
EDIT: Disregard. Despite being able to get in with the 116 files above and my pose player. I just did a restart and it failed. F this. EA, fix this ASAP!!!!!!
