First sim won't save

When i create the first sim of a new game, it won't save and everythino stops working. When I press the tick button to play the new household, then I press the one on the pop up to save it and it goes grey. All buttons then stop working and I have to force close my game. It is all up to date and my WiFi is working, although sims seems to have a problem connecting to the internet. I have no mods or cc
