I had this happen to a save after For Rent came out. I could not enter many regular residential lots in Willow Creek, making that particular save unplayable and unfixable. The fact that this is still ongoing is unacceptable. This is a game corrupting bug and is barely talked about. The only solution I have seen anywhere is to not use rental lots in the game. This is not a solution given that people have paid for that gameplay. I have had to start a new save file and am not currently using rental lots. This needs to be fixed ASAP before EA sells more packs to unsuspecting people who just want to play a game.
I have had to restart and delete many saves for MONTHS. This is honestly so annoying and they barely have addressed it. And you're right, "don't use residential rentals" is horrible advice, if that's the case they need to temporarily take it off the EA app until they fix it. But I doubt EA would ever sacrifice losing a couple of bucks so that they can take the time to fix the games they push.
