Frozen game/menu after ad

I have the digital deluxe upgrade, every EP, every GP, and all but 2-3 kits.

My game is fully updated to the current patch.

The edited title is incorrect - this is a completely different issue than the one in the linked thread above, and isn't even referring to the same type of ad or an ad that appears at the same stage of loading. This should have been obvious from my description.

This refers to the full-screen splash ads on the main menu that cause a Grey Screen of Death when someone attempts to close them in order to be able to use the main menu, freezing the game and requiring a force quit.

This is such a widely reported, common issue that it's concerning that reporting it gets incorrectly linked with a random, entirely unrelated previous bug. Can you please revert it to the correct previous title so as to not cause confusion?

The other thread was for both ads. If you read on in the thread you will find that other folks talked about the full ads as well.

Two similar threads are usually insanely difficult to keep on track so it doesn't matter if it's the full screen ad for packs or for Emit, an ad on the main menu or the pack ads in the game.

There was also an other, mod related issue related to stuck screens on the main menu (the small ones) but I assume you removed all your mods and tested without although you didn't add any tags/info for that.

EA will make the final decision though on how they want this handled.

I have also had this happen multiple times when I start up the game, Very annoying!

I am having this same issue. I play with mods but have tested with and without and repaired the game and still expeirience the dark screen after the splash ad, requiring a force quit. I have also tried pressing the escape button instead of clicking out of the ad and it seems to fix it, but the next time I click on something in the main menu it goes to the dark screen and freezes again, needing a force quit anyway. I have standard edition fully up to date and own all packs except Journey to Batuu, Bust The dust, & Castle Estate

Happening to me too since full screen ads introduced. I own everything and therefore find these ads that prevent me launching my game extra annoying. Both today and yesterday I had to restart 4 times each before I could enter my game. When closing the ads, I get stuck in a greyed out main menu that I cannot click anything. Sometimes I can exit the game by the X in the corner, others I have to force restart. I have script mods typically but even without and repaired this continues to be an issue.

I've been having this same issue. It would happen about once a week at first and a restart would take me into game. Now it's taking multiple attempts (since purchasing Hobbies and Businesses.) The X has never done anything; I've never been able to x out of the ad. I have all packs from the beginning through My Wedding Disasters, then bought Growing together and nothing since until H&B).  The X doesn't work; the screen goes dark then the ad pops up again. ) I'm no tech genius, but it seems the easiest fix is for EA to knock off the full page ad when adverts are everywhere else in the bloody game. 

I reported a similar issue that was deemed "Duplicate" but my ads ARE dismissible. I am just stuck with a greyed out Main Menu. The issue I reported was not about ads not being dismissible. If crinrict had read my post more carefully you would see these are separate, but potentially related issues. 

Literally just fell victim to this exact thing, I just searched in the entire site for "grey", "greyed out" and "gray," went through the list of reported bugs to try to not create a duplicate, and then reported it. They then marked mine as a duplicate of this report, but mine specifically stated ads ARE dismissible. I am just stuck on this grey screen of death. Quite frustrating but a bit funny as I read more through this post and see others ran into the same thing.

It's still the main menu getting stuck after you clicked them away.  

The way I understood your report was: You click it but the menu stayed grey while the ad went away. Still sound related to the ad. Even if you don't see the exact same symptoms, threads are sometimes kept together cause a lot of similar issue tend to become a mush of everyone just posting everywhere.

You do have mods though so it could be your mods as well. They can also have that effect and yes, that would be a different but not something that EA needs to look into.
