Game crashes/freezes using SRWE or alternatives
Before the update, I was able to SRWE to resize my screen to get higher quality pictures with no issues. It never caused my game to crash or freeze once. After the update, using SRWE crashes or freezes my game almost every single time. Sometimes, SRWE says Sims 4 is not responding, and when I force close the program, it crashes the Sims. Mostly, the Sims freezes with my mouse as a loading icon before Windows pops up and says it's not responding. Even if I let it load for an hour, it never loads and I have to force close.
I have tried alternatives to see if it was just SRWE, but none of them detect Sims 4. I have already cleared my mods folder of any conflicting cc that was causing eternal loading screen or kicking me back to world view when trying to enter a household. At some point, I had a couple of lastExceptions but deleted them when trying other things, and I haven't had one generate in a couple of days, regardless of if the game crashes or not.
I have completed the following with no luck (also please note, I play in windowed mode):
- Updated all mods and deleted any mods over a year old
- Removed all mods
- Added mods back in, disabled script mods only
- Enabled script mods again
- Uninstalled, deleted Sims 4 folder, reinstalled (also ran with no mods)
- Redownloaded SRWE
- Ran sfc /scannow in cmd and repaired any corrupted files
- Double and triple checked that all drivers were up to date
- Ran Sims 4 as administrator while also running SRWE as administrator
- Changed from DX9 to DX11
- Reinstalled Windows 11 to reset settings
- Ran Sims 4 in offline mode
- Taken screenshots in both Free Camera Mode and normal mode
I might have tried some more things, but I honestly can't remember. It's been 5 days of trying to get it to work. No one else seems to have issues that I've come across, but I'm not sure if they updated or not. I'm not even sure if anyone can help in this case, but I'm desperate. I feel like I've tried everything within my limited capabilities and knowledge.
I tried to take screenshots without SRWE and with my graphics settings all the way up, but the quality is still so pixelated. If the pics weren't pixelated, I wouldn't bother, but I really want my pictures to be nice quality. I'm attaching screenshots below to compare to, just in case, as well as my most recent DxDiag report.
