game crashing and not saving

i updated my game and downloaded the new fairy pack on 7/10 and had no gameplay issues (except for the pregnancy bug). today, my game crashed while I was in CAS. I reloaded my game and nothing was saved, so I went back into CAS, made the changes I wanted and saved my game after I exited CAS. I continued to play, and began to save my game every couple of minutes. then my game lagged and crashed AGAIN and nothing was saved. I was back at square 1, even though I saved my game several times. very frustrating how none of my progress actually saved. (playing on Mac)
