Had this same exact issue today. I spent a few hours building a church for the decades challenge then shared it on the gallery in one save file that I use for building stuff in and then I went back to the main menu and loaded up my decades save file and placed the lot down. Then I clicked on my family and then had it almost load in when my game randomly closed itself out. I was able to relaunch the game then play for a little bit more without any issues.

Hoping by responding here, it will let me follow the solution, I am having the same exact issue.
Iiprincessabby NeonChick1 Was this a one-time crash, or does it keep happening? If it doesn't happen again, you can probably ignore it as a random fluke.
Otherwise, do you use mods or custom content, and if so, do the crashes happen with the Mods folder removed? I'm not saying you can't use mods or cc, only that this is an informative test.
Please also provide a dxdiag, for reference. Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
r2567 It sounds like you might not need any more help, but let me know if you do.

puzzlezaddict It keeps happening, sometimes the game will run for five minutes and then shut off, sometimes it will run for an hour then shut off, but it always shuts off. It turns to a white screen and makes a disconnect noise. I have attempted to repair the game and nothing works. I do not have any mods in my folders, in fact I deleted them all because this keeps happening 😭
NeonChick1 Some of the crashes in your dxdiag are from the EA App, and that could crash the game as well. So please do a clean uninstall of the App, not Sims 4, with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine). Restart your computer before trying to play.
The dxdiag also lists two crashes of the graphics driver, so it's a good idea to do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver as well. Here's how:
This is the latest driver Nvidia offers for your GPU:

Given the age of your computer, I would also physically inspect it to confirm there isn't too much dust inside and the fans can all spin freely. And if the above doesn't help, try playing with the case completely open, and watch the fans move—make sure they're spinning and not catching on anything.

puzzlezaddict So I thought it worked, I did all the things, my game just crashed with a bright red screen! I am not sure what to do at this point. This time EA actually notified me that the app crashed. That is a first. What do I do now?
