Houses/Lots Disappear

When I go to a residential lot that has sims living on it, the lot shows as completely empty, and my sims are just standing on the sidewalk. This started yesterday; it happens on many but not all lots. It happens with mods in or out of the game, and even ***happens with saves that I'd kept sequestered on an external drive.***

The house/landscaping shows from map view, but is gone when I load onto the lot with a sim. It happened in multiple worlds and with residences of different ages (some have hours of gameplay in them, some have none). I'm now playing a vanilla game while I wait for this to be fixed.

I have a large save, with 80% lots I built or replaced from the gallery. If I play on a larger lot, then other lots start to disappear. I then go back to a recovery version of my save before the lots disappeared, Usually losing several hours of Play time. but at least my lots exist. I save the game to a back-up file every week. I wish there was a way to stop the degradation of lots.
