Hey BiT. You are right about the images being contained in the save, but now that you mention it...I vaguely remember reading somewhere that actually two copies of the images exist: 1)the custom photo object texture contained in the save file (lost forever to low res, as you explained) and 2) the system screnshot stored in the documents file "screenshots". Don't quote me on any of this, I am far from a tech savvy person. More a "crossing my fingers there is a solution" kind of person. Maybe you know if the 2 photos explanation is true? Thanks!
Hi, you're right there is also a screenshot file generated every time an in-game photo or paint by reference is taken and they are stored as full resolution screen shot images in the Sims folder. With some knowledge of image editing software and Sims4Studios you can cut out a snip from a screen shot and replace the Custom Image entry in a save game with a higher resolution version.
But, upon loading that Save file the Sims will reduce it to garbage low resolution and you'll be right back where you started. I tried that once. We need the developers to let us save higher resolution images again and only then would that be worth doing.
You could also try making your own Picture CC objects and do it that way to cut higher resolution images from your screen shots, but that's even more effort and would be tedious to keep up with along with quiting/loading back into the sims each time you want to take a new picture and keep a higher resolution version of it.
