I waited until the engaged moodlet disappeared and tried marrying again, it. Still reverted back to romantic partners. My sim was not pregnant at the time, but had children prior. Even entering cas off the lot reverts them back to partners. And like above, I tried not moving them in together to see if that was the issue, but still have the same issue.
Seems like all new marriages are like this. I tried on my other computer (under my husband's ea account) and got the same result with any new marriage. Anyone married (whether eloping or having a wedding at a venue) prior to the update are fine. It happened with a townie marriage and with a marriage of someone I created amd placed separately. Sometimes I get the "x is now the partner of x" popup but sometimes I don't. But their profiles change to the romantic partners instead of married. Engaged couples are fine and don't seem to have any issues entering CAS and stay engaged.

I read dishwashersafe's last reply, so I went a different way in testing this. I loaded up a random old save that still had all the premade Sims alive and unchanged, but that was created before the last patch.
First, I took one of my sims in the save to go romance and marry Vlad. They had no preexisting romance (but they were friends), so I had them very quickly kiss-partner-propose-elope. Went to CAS through a mirror, got the partners message on exiting CAS and they're no longer married.
Then I switched to the Markovic household in Tartosa - the couple that are engaged when they're created. They visited the arch in their back yard for a quick wedding. Once they were married, I reentered and exited CAS from the nearby mirror - And on exiting their marriage was still intact! I even went to CAS a second time, just to make sure they'd still be married, and their marriage seems to be perfectly intact.
Next, I went back out to manage worlds and quickly generated a new household with two engaged sims and dropped them into Tartosa. I entered their household, and had them immediately elope. After entering/exiting CAS, this couple also had their marriage intact.
Then just to make sure that my sim already knowing Vlad wasn't an issue, I popped over to grab Don Lothario and sped through a romance with Sienna Grove (from Horse Ranch). (Thank you Social Bunny, which I have not been using for any of these other couples.) They got married, and going into CAS still deleted the marriage and set them back to Partner.
So the issue seems to be any couple that became engaged through gameplay since the last patch. Couples that were engaged prior to the last patch, or that were engaged when created in CAS, seem to be fine.
Edit: I wanted to try one more thing. I moved Yoltic Xicoténcatl from the Lovestruck Dynamic Daters household in with the Luna-Sullivan household from Growing Together, turned on cas.fulleditmode, and set him as engaged to Xochitl Luna. They eloped on the street, then I went to CAS. They stayed married when I exited CAS.

So getting married is still broken for later generations of a family if the starting sims were married before the update or created as a married couple in CAS?

Thanks for the testing dishwasersafe
