This has been happening for me too (also no cc or mods used) but it happened before the update, same bug with multiple triggers possibly?
DigiDollhouse yes it's happened to me too just once before on another save that I now consider corrupt. All the photos went black and so did my customized pets... I really wonder what the trigger is. I've tried just about everything on my part so I really think it's something they hopefully fix in a patch soon! 😢
Just out of curiosity was it on a lot with a super heavily decorated house? The only thing I could think of at the time as a potential cause was "running out of triangles" (only ever encountered anything else like it in the build mode in FO4) though I suspect if that were an issue surely Sims 4 lots would or should have build limit meters. 🤔
DigiDollhouse it happens on my lot with lots of photos and items, but also on a different lot where my sim literally had one photo on display. They still turned black. So sadly I don't think it's the amount of photos/ items per se causing the trouble 🥺
