For clarity purposes the photos in my game are normal to excellent quality, not poor quality, and were pre-existing. This save was previously played with mods and CC installed, but all mods and CC were removed from my entire game about 6 months ago and this save has been played mod and cc free several times since. I haven't yet checked any other saves.
Yesterday I played in my Legacy save a couple of hours after I'd updated my game with the newest patch and all my photos in the save were fine. In fact, one of my sims attended her High School graduation and her photo appeared as it should which was brilliant, because when I last played the save a few months ago and attended graduation her photo came out blank.
Today however I opened the same save and ALL the photos out on display, whether on the walls or sitting on surfaces, have turned black. It's devastating. The photos in personal inventories are unaffected though. I'm at a complete loss to understand why everything was showing correctly after directly the patch had been installed in my game and now 24 hours later some of the photos are now black?!
Also, the family portrait I had saved/locked in the L&D Lasting Legacy Family Portrait frame is now blank, even though the option to unlock or view the portrait remain as before. (EA please let me know if this should be reported separately. )
I've attached photos showing the black photos out on display in comparison with the photos in personal inventories. The photos from the inventories stay showing correctly when placed out on display.

Yes the title to my report was changed by someone and it doesn't quite match what I was saying. Not just poor quality photos are broken, it is ALL quality photos. So I am experiencing exactly what you are. When I load into my game today (after the update of course, but with my last "safe save" from 1/12/26), all of my photos and paint-by-reference are fine. They're all there unaffected. It's only after saving and coming back into the game when they black out.

mehphy Oh so the saving is the issue? That would explain why when I played in my save directly after the patch had been installed yesterday everything was fine, but when I played the same save today (after saving and quitting yesterday) everything is now black! Guess I won't be touching any saves now that were last saved before the patch, because when I save and next load into them they'll be broken too 😭😭
(Thanks for clarifying re the title btw, I wonder why they felt the need to change it!)

as I can't dupe on my own save, could you please upload your save to google or oneDrive (the ones where the photos are fine) and DM me the link ?

crinrict I can send you the one save I have played in and saved since the patch came out but as soon as it loads, for me anyway, the photos on display are already black so I don't know if that's helpful? (Although I have backup saves, I can't roll back/recover the one save I have played since the patch so that the pictures are showing OK as I tend to do 'Save As' at the end of a play session and then delete the old save.)
I could also/instead send you a save with a lot of photos in that hasn't been saved in since the patch came out?

Can you load an old save file (where the photos are still untouched) and move all the photos that are on display somewhere into a Sim's personal inventory? And if you then save and reload, are they still fine (in the inventory)?
At least that way they would be preserved somewhere until EA fixes the issue, and you could continue playing with that save file.
And assuming that works, can you put those photos on display again and then save and reload without them turning black? That is, can the photos be "converted" somehow by that procedure?
(Make sure not to overwrite any of your old saves when doing this!)

AxelRogat Thanks, sadly I can't roll back/recover the one save I have played since the patch (to put the photos in personal inventories or save to a room to upload to my library) as I tend to do 'Save As' at the end of a play session and then delete the old save, likewise with a backup save I have.
As any photo fix EA releases don't work retroactively, sadly the photos in this one save that are black are now lost 😭 I'm gonna have to rethink my saving methods to ensure I always have saves that can roll back!
