I'm on console (Xbox) and every single painting from reference and photo all went blank at once. Before the update, I had a few photos on the walls that were staying put just fine and I was only running into problems when I put photos into containers. Painting by reference worked just fine as long, except copies made of them would always be whited out. My game crashed (which started happening because the program likes to "adjust my graphics so I can continue to enjoy the sims" while it was IN THE MIDDLE OF SAVING) and the first time it wasn't an issue but the second time every single photo and painting were blank. It's photos from several sources (phone, fancy camera, photobooth, autograph) stored in several locations (on the wall and table, in the digital picture frames from the event reward and moschino, as well as collage frames from growing together, and stored in the family keepsake box. It's a mix of photos taken from before and after the most recent patch, some named and some not, none in frames using the menu that pops up when you click the photo (only frames that are build/buy items, but again photos in the inventory and photos resting on tables and placed directly on walls were also affected), and none with filters.
I feel like it is also worth noting that the room I had saved to the gallery to store pictures also had only blank photos when I placed it, even tho it has worked for me repeatedly in the past (unfortunately I crashed out and deleted it bc I forgot it might be useful to you guys). I also tried reloading a previous version of the save file from before I had problems (I keep two of each save file) but it also has all black photos when I reloaded.
I checked into another save file that had never had the graphics being automatically adjusted screen come up (and also had never ever crashed) and all their photos and paintings were blank too. I want to check to see if it would effect a new save file, but since the sims devs warned us about having too many save files (and I keep two of each, regularly doing a "save as" and deleting the older of the two, never reloading the game with the "resume" option on the main menu, or from an auto save, all the other save corruption hygiene) I'm honestly afraid to. Ive already had to restart the same family FOUR TIMES due to save data corruption so I think if I have to do a fifth im gonna crash out and get rid of the sims.
I think I'm going to follow the advice another commenter had, which was pretend the photography skill doesn't exist. Which is a real shame, as I play in legacies pretty much only.
