Saving the photos to the gallery doesn't do much. I saw some say it wasn't safe when saving to a room, so I tested this out and they're right.
*The photos that are black here, are photo booth and cherished photos
I placed multiple down and it seems just to be those types (at least the types I have).
Kind of annoying those aren't savable. Your teen may have aged up already so they can't retake their photo booth pic and saving it to your library turns it black.
Unrelated note, I had this bug in one of my saves, and I thought I saved and exited separately, but I guess not.

There's one photo hung up by the TV and upstairs there are two that are black.
