As this bug will be fixed on November 4th (not for already blackened pictures, of course), I suggest all of us to move to this thread - forums.ea.com/idea/the-sims-4-bug-reports-en/ld-memorial-portraits-no-longer-generate-image-of-a-sim-and-show-up-blank/12501962
Graduation pictures are NOT mentioned on the laundry list and probably won't be fixed, we need to give more attention to this bug!
The bug is actually only getting fixed for NEW SAVES, not even just not fixing old photos, you need to start from scratch with a new game to get the fix :( If you make new photos in your current save, they will still be black..
(unless they miscommunicated, worth re-testing once the patch is out 🤞)

karoschmitz lol no :D This is not how it works :) this is programming, not some magic spell with limited impact :)) Though I agree they could have chosen better wording. Then again, people that do communications likely have little clue what they are talking about.
All they meant that it's impossible to fix what is already broken in your old saves. And this is true. The files that handles pictures are just empty, you can check it yourself with SimsStudio. There is no fix that could restore their connection to the right textures. But if the bug that severs said connections is fixed, it will affect the whole game - all future pictures, no matter in what save they will be made.

Well I really hope this would be true and they communicated it wrongly, but that is not what they communicated, and there have already been fixes in the past that only applied to NEW SAVES. (In fact even in this newest laundry list there are 3 bugfixes that they have added the comment to, that they are only fixed in new saves. 😥)
I honestly have a very small hope that you are right. I'm a developer myself and know it doesn't need magic for a bug to be fixed in a way that only applies to new saves unfortunately..Good luck to us that they miscommunicated 🤞

Not sure what you're talking about. There are always fixes that cannot fix what's already broken, but there never were any that would apply to new saves only, and there will never be. I have ONE save in my game since 2014 (with backups, of course), so how do you think I'm playing it all these 10+ years? :D
IDK what you're developing, but clearly it has nothing to do with how this game works :)

rostsit their mistake, their bug, their problem. They break the game, they repair it.
