[PS/XB] Game preferences resetting

So I've currently got my played households' Neighborhood Stories turned off and custom ones for non-played, and, well, it's not listening anymore. I tripled check those settings and it says it's off -- everything how I had it -- but after playing with one household for awhile, I went to manage households and noticed that a Sim I just created the other night is now a ghost. I had gotten a bad feeling before about it because I started noticing little things like certain households moving in to places when I have that turned off for them, etc. And now this.
Same for my gameplay settings, except they keep resetting after every time I close the game and hop back on. Disable Autonomy doesn't work at all.
Also can't take a piece of cake after adding special spice. The sim just T-poses for a second and it cancels the action. But regular cake with no added spice is totally good to go.
I'm still fairly new to playing the Sims, been about 8 months or so now, I'm on PS4. After getting a nice amount of packs during the sales and getting more gameplay experience, I'm finally starting to feel the frustration the community has towards how notoriously bad these bugs can be.
