It's doable if you try to spend the night on site. Try using a tent or a sleep bag and wait there for an entire night and most of the day after. Do not leave the neighborhood.
That's what I had to do. I packed a tent and a snack bag and made sure there were toilets and showers in the Desert Bloom Park.
