I'm not sure if this is the correct thread since it appears to be old (and using the old template), but is happening in my game, and, as someone who is primarily a builder in the Sims, it is HUGELY frustrating and regularly impacts my ability to play the game as designed. I do like to use building mods, but this happens regardless of whether they've been removed (thumb cache deleted and all that), if it's a completely fresh save, etc. Some additional details of when I experience this bug/how to replicate it:
- Any use of half walls, fences, or spandrels that abut the roof piece or are within a room that has any overlap with a roof piece causes the entire portion of the overlapping roof piece(s) to clip through. This is for every type of roof piece.
- Platforms in the same context as above will often, but not always, produce this bug.
- Circular, octagonal (hexagonal, etc) pieces are particularly egregious offenders and will almost always clip through even rooms with full walls, making them essentially unusable on anything but the very top of a build. Basically, these roof pieces will behave as though there is no wall or room to block it at all, and just show up sprawling across the entirety of their footprint, no matter what. Hipped and half-hipped roof pieces also sometimes do this (but not always; I haven't been able to figure out what the trick is to prevent this or what causes it).
- The elevation of the roof pieces/rooms might have something to do with when the bug shows up in the cases where full walls are being used, but the threshold for that seems to vary from build to build, as I've had circular pieces be blocked appropriately on the second floor of some builds, but not others.
- Roof trim/the edges of all roof pieces will clip through exterior walls when there is a fence, half wall, or spandrel involved, as described in the first point.
I love building in the Sims and am frequently impressed with how robust and complex the whole system is and how much it allows me to explore my creativity. However, this bug has been around for at least 3 years (since the werewolf GP came out, though that's only when I first remember encountering it, and I've gathered from talking to other builder that it was a thing before that), and it dramatically impacts my ability to play this aspect of the game. I hope this post can get some eyes back on this and that it will be addressed sooner rather than later. I know a lot of builders would be very happy to see this particular issue gone.
