[S] [EBN] Gnomes spawning with no harvest fest/ailment

My husband has experienced three incidents where gnomes have invaded his house when it has not been Harvestfest and neither of his Sims have the Gnomes Lure Ailment. Each time they come, they drop trash everywhere and break nearly everything around them.

After each of these events he is then unable to fix items that are broken (the sim looks to be doing the repair animation but it never repairs) and has to replace them or if they were not broken, his Sims become obsessed with cleaning them but the animation to clean never stops.

He is playing on Xbox and owns every pack/kit with all installed. Dust Bunnies is turned off.

  • On Xbox Series X with all packs I just took the Private Dwelling lot trait off my current lot and it was immediately full of gnomes with halos above their heads. I added the Private Dwelling lot trait again and it stopped.

So adding Private Dwelling may help anyone else with these unwanted guests.

  • I had a similar thing happen to my sims today. I started a new game on a new computer (no mods, no cc). At first I had a good gnome show up to clean. Eventually it sopped moving around but was still making the moving noise. So I sold it. I then got another one, that was a protector gnome. This one didn't move about, but did make the noise. I left that one be but then got a bunch of destructive gnomes. They stared wrecking the place but the other gnome did nothing. I ended up deleting the lot of them. My sims have had no ailments. There luck has been high. The only thing that has changed, is they now have an infant. They also get moods from milestones they have never had. I have all other expansion, game and stuff pack installed and most of the kits. I am not playing in the new world and my sims are doing the painting career and the Eco career.

The picture is of the first gnome, that was apparently cleaning.

  • I have similar problem in my save.
it is just a single gnome at a time, but 1 every day for a few hours, and many green pulse spots.
    its not every lot.

I do have mods (will check with out later)

It seem the gnomes might be coming to lots with decorative gnomes? becouse first house it happent in defently had 1 gnome in it (Specter in Ravenwood) Im not sure about the second but does it havnt happent I dont belive had any decorative gnomes.

I have not seen it happen on community lots.

No ailments (on my sims and really if walk by sims make it happen it is bad, though didnt see any walk by with ailment)
and I didnt use fairy dust.

just 1 gnome do its thing for like 3? sim hours then become statue.... next day or a few days later new gnome pop up.

edit. yes happen with no mod
and yes if destructive gnomes break things I cant allways fix it or it might take 4 tries

So, this was not intended? I thought it was since Im pretty sure I saw gnomes just spawn without ailments in early access YT videos. But if its not intended, I have been having gnomes just show up on home lots since I got EBN on release, without ailment. It gets a bit much, since they also do not despawn but just turn into normal gnomes that I then have to clean up.

    Im on xbox one.

  • I'm not sure, but the "Gnomes" Lot trait seems to/was spawn(ing) gnomes on the grounds of the lot...not sure if it's related, but it is another possible cause (other than ailments/enchanting), usually those gnomes are good to me, but seems they replaced the base-game (or earlier pack) effect with a unique one for EBN.

Remember: Lot Traits are tied to the lot, not the sim, and they effect the entire household, it can easily go missed if your playing with a lot of Gallery Stuff (because Gnomes are a pretty "good" trait for most builders)

LeissaMyst yes I can confirm that about the Gnomes lot trait (on Xbox Series X with all content). I just had to remove it from a public lot. I add it to retail and public lots with breakable things. In my Arts Centre with crafting, fabrication and recycling facilities the gnomes are no longer working quietly overnight to fix things and are there large as life being disruptive instead. They were dropping seed packets and causing trouble...and fires too! Guess I will be removing that trait from my lots.

I am (still) getting Invading Gnomes (the ones with no rhyme or reason) in my home lot as of today's new patch. I don't think the problem is fixed yet. I have no ailments, my lot traits don't include Gnomes, and my Sims is the only one (afaik) that is on the lot. Additionally I have balance re-enabled but spread of ailments disabled but the balance of the Sims are "Very Balanced", also have fairies limited to their specific world setting and this is happening in Tartorosa (the Wedding Stories Town). No Fairy dust exists on my sim or lot let alone any fairies in the nearby area. It should be noted however, that the gnomes I encountered today were not the harmful kind (yet), but rather spontanious cleaning gnomes.

Edit after the fact: I just noticed this post is about an XBOX Bug, but I'm playing on PC.

It happens to me, too. It's really annoying when they show up and kill all of my plants!

  • This has now happened to me and it also seems to glitch out some of the affected items, eg. my sim could not repair the broken fridge as they just kept repairing and repairing it and there was no progress and it never ever repaired. Also, the stove was broken and made dirty - my sim managed to repair the stove but no matter how long they clean it for, it never ever becomes clean.

Playing on PC, no mods or CC, all packs except 2 kits installed.

No Lot traits assigned. Nobody has any ailments but my one sim is in the Naturopath career (it did not happen whilst a sick sim was on the lot).

  • It's happening to me too! Exactly like you described it. Stuff just can't be repaired or cleaned and no ailment or trait or anything that could cause the gnomes to spawn.

I'm playing with all packs and no mods or CC.
