Ideas
Speedy1236 Took me a while, thank you for sharing this info. This was the next thing I was going to test as soon as I was able to.
If the full rooms aren’t stopping the indoor weather, I’ll keep an eye out for anything that might be more helpful.
If that isn’t working, it might also explain why apartments are still experiencing the bug.
As far as I understand, some players that do a lot of gardening will place roofs over plants so they are “Sheltered” and grow regardless of season.
I imagine older EA builds have missing tiles because the roof originally did enough. Still, I’m glad my suggestion helped with lighting issues in builds.
The Thermostat might not be a bad idea to explore. If I understand the mechanics correctly, the thermostat should have effects depending on the temperature you set it to and the temperature you set it outside.
For example, if it’s hot outside you make the thermostat set to cold, it increases bill expenses, and setting the thermostat hot while it’s hot should also have its own effect whether it be decreasing the bill or just overheating your sim.
From what I read, it looks like the builds that should be working to keep weather effects from showing up are being recognized as indoors.
The Thermostat should be something that affects sims when the game thinks they go inside.

As someone that plays with merfolk, I’ve had seasons for a long time because it expands on their occult powers with a weather changing ability. I have never seen this bug until fairly recently.
It must have started sometime between June of last year and now for me. Sulani Spring and Summer have a lot of rain.
I will tinker with things as I find something to try out. Maybe, I’ll find something that can help. I think the Thermostat is a very good starting point to simplify things cause of how it should work.

Right now, the only things that I can think of that might help with this would be utilizing the weather changing mechanics that come with seasons.
There are two ways to change the weather in game:
- Dr. June’s Weather Control Device
- Merfolk Weather Changing Abilities (Power is expanded with the Expanded Mermaids Mod)
I’ll see if I can find a way to do something with builds in the meantime, but if you want to keep seasons in game and don’t want to turn anything off. Both of these options should be useful regardless of the platform you are using.
Basically, using these features from the Seasons Pack, you can manipulate the weather outside to make it Sunny while sims are inside and then you can restart the weather as it was before.
The Weather Control Device should be the most useful regardless of platform.
This is not something I would consider an ideal solution or workaround. I wouldn’t even call this a fix, but it should make it possible to very quickly change conditions for taking screenshots and recording videos. The weather does not change instantly, but it might help.
Figuring out exactly what is broken will probably take time because there are a number of mechanics that involve whether or not the game recognizes things as indoors/outdoors. There are also the weather changing mechanics, mechanics for specific weather, and so on. As far as I can tell, this is only visual.
My thoughts are that the weather effects are appearing inside because the game thinks inside is outside. If this isn’t leading to a workaround or helping to identify the source of the visual bug. It will take a bit longer to figure out what else could be causing this.
