With the update a few weeks ago, all my lots were erased leaving me with "homeless" families that had no restaurants, parks etc. to go to. That was never resolved so I accepted it was never going to be fixed and started to rebuild. With this new update it kept poping up "game failed to load restart game" . After a few goes of that the screen just loads and loads but nothing opens. So i went from rebuilding years of play to not being able to play the game at all . fun times... FUN times.....

- Did you use the same save to rebuild or start a new one ?
- Do you have an error code with that message ? Could you post a screenshot ?
- Do you have any LastException/LastCrash files in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 ?

- Delete the ones you have
- Trigger the error again
- Check if new ones are created
- If that is the case, please upload the files to either googleDrive or oneDrive and post the link here (make sure it's public)
Deleting the file won't fix your issue. Posting the info is meant for troubleshooting.
