The sim keeps stopping going on hikes in Mt. Komorebi to get water. All. The. Time. For both me and a friend... With all the "hike" options. They go to get water even if they are on a vacation lot or just visiting.

Your other issues sounds like this one
There's a couple of issues with books currently. Please use either of these depending on what you are seeing.
I did that now. No mods, scripts nd no of the files you mentioned. Still problems. Both with this, and especially with writing / finishing books. It just does not happen, and whenever the writing of a book is cancelled out, she cannot restart if. it if works, she starts from the beginning and cancels right before finishing. It is an icon of a harddrive and when she sits down to finish the book it just disappears. Insanely annoying.
Please test your issue on a vanilla game before reporting.
To verify on a vanilla game, move your mods folder to the desktop and delete the following files from your user folder.
- localthumbcache
- Any lastException Files
- Any LastCrash files.
Test a backup of your save as you will loose all cc on the save and see if the same error occurs, then report back.
