It finally happened. I got hit with the sims bugs. My sims won't move. I click on an object; it won't let them do it. I reset them using shift and left click, nothing works. They just stand there glitching. No mods/CC. Can anyone help me?

Same here, my sim put her infant to bed then suddenly stopped working. No menu comes up when clicking on the sim and whenever I have the infant ask for food or diaper change my sim goes forward then starts waving her hands like something is blocking her path (nothing is blocking her path btw)
I've repaired my game and issue is still there, I've removed my mods folder and the issue is still there, only now my sims is marked as "neighbor" when hovering over her head.
Been playing all day and this issue started somewhere around 30 min ago.
edit: I'm on pc but playing through EA launcher, never played through steam so it's not a steam issue since OP tagged as playing on steam.

Bri423 QueenSaraphine Please test a new save in a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.) Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.
Don't download anything from the Gallery for this test. Just use fresh or already-present sims and a blank or default EA-made lot.
If this doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag. Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired and even did the -dx11 thing. It says, "no problem found". NOTHING works! My sims still freeze; stop any command they are doing. When prompted to do another task, it doesn't let them. They just stand there and glitch. Can't give them a task, but everything else I am able to click on. Time speed, tasks, build mode. I can even exit without force quitting. I have never been hit with the "bugs" before, but this one is really irritating. If it is a pack causing it, I will happily take that pack off. I don't own many. Never had any mods or CC. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE!

Bri423 I've merged your new post with your existing thread. Please keep to one thread while troubleshooting, at least as long as it's in the same general time frame.
Please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there. Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email addresss. (You can keep declining until you're asked some security questions instead.) You'll be able to launch the game without reinstalling anything, but your saves and other user data won't be available. That's fine for the purposes of this test and can be addressed later.
If the game has the same issues in the new account, please try playing in that account still but in a clean boot. Here's how:
The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run. Disable the rest as described.
When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled. If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.
Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.
If this helps, you can selectively reenable services until you find the culprit, then either leave that disabled or (if it belongs to an app you want to keep using) let me know what it is so we can try to fix the underlying issue.
If you see the same issues in a clean boot, please try again, except with your computer offline. You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.

puzzlezaddict I did that, sims froze again at 2 am sim time. I fast forward the time on the game and kept hitting restart object. Finally, one sim (the one I wasn't trying to reset) reset and worked again. My main sim however, still stuck. Only reset for me to give a task and it disappear and start glitching again. I went into CAS and got out hoping that would work. All it did when I got back into live mode was take away the bottom bar where you see your sims and needs etc. I couldn't click anything except the quit button. I stayed on for 10 minutes to see if it would come back, it in fact did not. :(

Bri423 Does this happen in a new save too? There's a current bug report for saves freezing at a certain sim-time of day:
Time/Sim freezes while environment still moves | EA Forums - 11885395
But it doesn't usually happen in all saves, at least not new saves with fresh sims on default EA lots. (Reusing content from the Gallery or your library can reintroduce a variety of issues.) So please test a new save, and also let me know whether you think the bug report applies to you.
If the bug report does match what you're seeing, the thread is labeled Needs Info, so EA is looking for saves, as you can see referenced here:
Time/Sim freezes while environment still moves | EA Forums - 11885395

puzzlezaddict I tried a new save. The bar that shows my sims, needs, phone, all that is gone. The glitch, I didn't stay long enough to see if it would happen again. I couldn't see the time on my new save due to that bar being gone. I uninstalled and reinstalled, the bottom bar is still gone.

Bri423 Please instead do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the game and the EA App, as described in the accepted solution of this thread (for a different issue, but the process is the same):
[CURRENT ISSUE] Sims 4 DLC shows as installed, won't load in-game | EA Forums - 11831673
If that doesn't help, please try playing again in a clean boot in the new Windows account, as you could in theory have multiple issues. The clean uninstall/reinstall may change the outcome of the clean boot.

puzzlezaddict I give up. The more I try to fix it, the more messed up it gets. Now I can't uninstall it after uninstalling/reinstalling 3 times... Instead of coming out with new packs, why not fix what is broken already? I was stoked about the new pack. What is the point if I can't even play? Thank you for trying to help, but I'm no IT person...I'll try again in a few months...

Bri423 I understand if you don't want to try anymore, but I'm still here and haven't run out of ideas. So if you change your mind, feel free to come back. And in that case, let me know what happens when you try to uninstall the game with Revo Uninstaller.

These are all my saves that I didn't delete. I looked at the thread you suggested to post into, it said "not this issue: sims not responding to commands. Stands around doing nothing." So, I figured I'd post here. Not sure what you all can do with them. I deleted most of my new saves. I included old saves it began with as well. Revo I was able to uninstall the game. I uninstalled EA app as well. I rebooted. It still had my previous saves on there even though I deleted every file associated with it. My very last save (The top one) froze at 5 pm sim time. The others it was 2 pm/am. Didn't matter as long as it was 2. I have tried to be as specific as possible to help, and I genuinely do not know how to be any more specific. I LOVE this game. I have played it since the very first one came out. Never have I experienced anything like this, and it is frustrating. This is my comfort game. I just really want to play it. My report hasn't changed since the last time I attached it. I'm lost. I do not want to reboot my computer for the 3rd time. I just want to play. If there is another way to post the saves, let me know. The thread did confuse me a little bit.

It actually won't even let me DM you the saves. All I can do is copy and paste. That is it. I guess I can't help you any further. I'm sorry.
- puzzlezaddict2 months agoHero+
Bri423 To provide saves, you'd need to upload them to a third-party filehosting site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and post the link. Multiple saves should be zipped together.
However, before you do that, I'd like to see a lastexception, if you have one. There's a different bug report that started out pretty generic when it was posted but now has a few identical LEs attributed to it. The files would be in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, and it's best to delete any you have and let the game generate new ones.
To provide a lastexception, open the file, delete its first line of text, and attach it to a reply. Or you can copy the text and paste it into a reply.
This is the thread in question, by the way:
Sims are not moving/Freezing/Animation problems (Patch 1.112) | EA Forums - 11849452
If you'd rather have a look yourself, this is the relevant string in the LEs:
AttributeError: 'Constraint' object has no attribute '_enforce_social_group_routing_surface'
Feel free to just post in that thread with your information if you prefer and if your LE includes that string.
