My sims either won't follow a command (just stand there) or they "do" it without actually moving. For example, they will go to sleep without getting into bed. I've linked to a video to better explain. As you can see from the video this is without mods/cc installed. I play on an M1(2020) Mac.

Happens to me too - with no mods and dlc's enabled, my sim just stand still.
Have autonomy set to full, tried reinstalling the game.
Have everything directly in the EA app.
Since I updated The Sims 4 to version 1.118.257.1020, autonomy is completely broken. When I load a save (both new and old), my Sim just stands still and does nothing. If I tell them to do something, they’ll do it, but unless I give them a command, they just stand there doing absolutely nothing. I don’t have any mods or DLCs installed. Everything worked perfectly fine yesterday, before I updated the game this morning.
Autonomy setting is set to "full".
If you play via Steam, try unlinking Steam from the EA App then install all packs directly via the EA App. The issue may have been related to the Steam/EA App connection. It worked for me!

Further testing it definitely happens when a sims goes to sit down (yours or a townie) also sims often get stuck by the side of a bed when they get up and have to be reset to get them to move at all . Then moved a few spaces away from the bed before you can set them a task IE go to eat etc

my sim will not move or attempt any action. she won't cancel the actions but is just sitting there starving and stinking to death. this is a very game breaking bug and I'm not sure if it's one of the packs I have or base game issue. I had her try to take a bath and she wasn't cleaning herself in the tub and wouldn't leave. so, I saved and quit and she is now stuck beside the tub immobile.
YorksRob Then I think this belongs in the bug report for the issue. Feel free to add any other info you think is relevant.
