Sims continue canceling actions (Routing Failure)

No matter what I do, painting, bathing the babies, simply bringing them over to bathe, picking them up, walking inside a house, they cancel it or complain that they can’t walk there when they absolutely can. I have to manually click on different areas of the floor and make them walk into a house or go up the stairs or else they complain that they can’t get there.

I have this issue and it’s making my game unplayable. One sim will be outside gardening just fine, but the other parent sim will be unable to do anything in the house. Stands still and cancels all queued interactions, ESPECIALLY anything to do with their infant. No routing issues. They get around just fine until I ask them to help with the baby. When my sim is done gardening  and I leave her be, the other sim will be able to get things done. What’s the point of having many sims in the household if only one sim can complete interactions at a time? I’m so over all of these bugs.

  • This one is still happening in my game. The further a sim is away from the object, like a toilet for example, the more likely they are to say they can't reach it. If you get your sim to walk into the room, they can then use the item. The further the sim is away from the item,  or the more rooms are in between them and the item, the worse it is.

  • Had this with houseplants had to get the gnome to do it in the end.

  • I have had this problem myself and 100% of the time I find it is a routing issue even if the sim does not indicate it. I use bb.moveobjects on quite a lot to place items, and then I also will select the item, hold down alt and be able to freely move the item to place it just how I want it. It can take a while to narrow down because I will place things and it looks like plenty of room and should be no problem. The best example I can give is a plant I had to the side of a doorway. It was a small bathroom that I decided I wanted to add a shower to and keep the tub too. But I didn't want a shower/tub combo. After moving everything around it looked like it should be fine but I did have to use alt select to slightly move a plant that was to the right side of the door because it was touching the bathroom cabinet I placed by it and it didn't look right. When I finished the plant was just right on the edge but not in or blocking the doorway.  Only I guess it was because it turned out to be the whole problem because my sim could not go into the bathroom. Also had this happen with a bookshelf that I scooted too close to the door. Again it looked fine and wasn't blocking the door but it was simply too close and the game/mysim could not navigate because of it. I am not saying that what you all are experiencing is due to this but it sure sounds the same and I remember being so frustrated because I couldn't see what the problem was. You saying that you can click on different areas and eventually get them where you want them to go really makes me feel that something is indeed happening as I described above. So if you can get them there by taking one route, look very hard at the alternative routes they might take. And remember if can be anything from a painting or wall item that juts out too far, to a ceiling light that hangs too low, or something you carefully placed that is interfering. The lights are a HUGE problem that people don't think about a lot. Anyhow, I feel your frustration and wanted to share in case my experience can help someone.

  • I think everyone has this issue, both pc and non pc users

So i believe mods and cc's in this case isn't the issue here if even non pc users experiences this!

So sorry for the missed reply! I didn’t get an email and don’t usually spend a lot of time on the forums.

Vacuuming is an issue in this and other spaces. It’s an issue in small and large spaces, but I can upload the builds to the gallery when I get home from work and have a moment.

  • I think I have a very productive addition info to this - I've always had a lot of mods and no issues with the game other than the expected minor delay on loading sometimes... no issues with FOR RENT... HOWEVER... the pack I was missing out of all of them and I've purchased and installed 2 days ago was WEREWOLVES - since there my sims FREEZE, action QUEUE piles up and nothing happens and many interactions just won't go through... there are no conflicts in the mods I'm using nor am I using heavy stuff or interaction related (mostly cc adds and objects). I noticed WEREWOLVES is quite detailed as a pack in terms of interactions and game "paths", also with more objects and detailed objectives -  I believe there could be an underlining conflict of WEREWOLVES with some new pack (for example For Rent... since it was the one everyone was complaining about... ) but I had For Rent and it was fine... only now that I've gotten all gameplay packs with WEREWOLVES being the last one the game is crashing on me and Sims are just bugging non-stop. Help Please :) Thank you!!

    Hello,
Since The Sims 4 was released, there has been a problem with Sims not following commands. When I queue up actions for my Sim, they often just cancel them. In previous versions of the game, when you assigned tasks to a Sim, they would complete them one by one.
I often see my Sims standing around, smiling and looking into space, even with the time accelerated. After a long time, they finally start an action, or my commands just disappear from the queue.
    Please fix this.
    Thank you.
