Sims endlessly repairing breakable objects (Patch 1.119.109)

I would have added this to the other thread about breakable objects being unrepairable but that one was just recently closed as "fixed".

Broken objects, Rub-a-dub tub and the midrange PC, cannot be repaired. The tub was pulled from a tip broken and the PC was purchased through Build/Buy and broke during use. The first sim to attempt repairs was the lot owner who managed to go from barely level 9 handiness to max trying to repair the tub. A neighbor sim came by offering to make repairs and spent almost the whole day trying to fix that tub and PC with no success. I used the replace option on the PC after a couple game hours attempting to repair only to have it break almost immediately when my sim used it next.

PC via EA app, no mods nor CC ever.

  • How did they break ? Did you upgrade these ?

They fixed werewolves breaking stuff and there was likely to be more causes

The tub was pulled from a tip broken and the PC was purchased through Build/Buy and broke during use. Neither object was upgraded but the PC was locked to just the one sim.

I do not have the werewolves pack. I also do not have EBN nor are there any gnomes on that lot. It is not that these items kept breaking, just that they could not be repaired once broken despite hours spent attempting repairs.

    HI MercyLeigh

bit lost in translation. What do you mean by this: The tub was pulled from a tip broken ?

Also did the break before or after the update ?

I tried breaking both items via Sabotage - then use and had no issues repairing them afterwards.

Can you duplicate it with a new item ?

The tub was obtained via "dive for deals" at a tip/dumpster. It was already broken. The tub was pulled from the dumpster after the update while the PC was purchased through Build/Buy and broke before the update while being used (I think it broke during a "practice writing" session).

This has been my testing household this week. I have played it beyond the attempts to repair those items, had two sinks and a shower break through normal use, and repaired all three with no problem. I have been trying to fish something else in need of repair out of a dumpster, but the RNG has not been kind. I am about to start a fresh save to test something else so I will also try to replicate this.

  • I'm not 100% sure this issue was caused by the gnomes but I noticed it first after the gnomes broke all my stuff. Sims (mine, and NPCs like maids and visitors) will begin cleaning or repairing an item and then just continuously do it, without making progress, for hours. In the case of the maid, she was cleaning the stove and I got the end of shift pop up charging for her work, but she continued cleaning the stove until I reset her. My sim repairing the fridge went the same way.

When I reset the sims cleaning, the item they were cleaning was clean. Not the case for the broken items, they remained broken.

Additional context: fridge and oven are from snowy escape, sink that was also affected is from parenthood, the gnomes didn't come from my household having an ailment, I think it must have been someone walking through the neighbourhood, but I didn't see anyone red and spotty.

Game is up to date, all packs owned except some kits, no mods or CC used in months, issue is new, but recurred after leaving the game and restarting. Playing on PC.
