Ideas
I'm on Xbox Series X, updated with all content installed. I'm pretty careful with managing my game storage to avoid crashing, like managing inventory, library space and number of households/Townies and keeping my saves down to just 2. My game rarely crashes. But it crashed in build mode just after the update, I thought nothing of it as I had 30 extra Townies that had been generated and needed to be deleted as that bloated Other Households and that always causes issues. I cleared those and no more crashes. But then yesterday I kept crashing when I was entering cheat codes. With testingcheats true enabled I was entering cheat codes just to add traits and reward points to a new Sim that was created by the game as a Townie. I'd get so far in and it crashed every time. This is really unusual. I do this regularly for Townies I'm keeping in the game in fact I only did this about a week ago in exactly the same way, before the update. Both in San Myshuno, both created by the game and edited by me.
I've powercycled my console and cleared my locally saved data from the console only to see if this helps and will track further crashes if it continues.
Update: this is definitely patch related unfortunately. I've now crashed as a calendar event started and while saving in a 3hr window. It's similar to an issue I had with the MWS patch but that was on Series S. It's worth noting I'm suddenly getting new families being generated in Other Households instead of single Townies. The number of these is unusual, I had 7 new families appear in OH after just 2 hours of playing. I have noticed a link between excessive new Townies and crashing/lagging in the past as I've already mentioned. I also now cannot save with the Other Households open. If I do it will take around 10 minutes and freeze up. It will work eventually but saving is quick in any other mode. Seems to be a related issue.
