I think what most hurts is that crashing has been an issue on consoles for years and years. While this currently issue is an extreme version that makes the game unplayable at all, console versions have always been riddled with issues of crashing. That EA/Maxis's only response to the issue has always been for people to simply 'don't use all the DLC you bought' and impose significant limits on how we use the game, is frankly an insult. We pay money for expansions and then get told that we can only use a few at a time. We get told that we have to take time out of our play to constantly clear out inventories and avoid letting Sims generate large inventories.
That makes a number of elements with the game much harder, like game mechanics were you're expected to carry various defenses against pests in a wilderness or with using ingredients for cooking. That the 'fix' is to just use less of the game is very rude. I get that there may be issues with the console hardware, but if that is the case, the game shouldn't have been released for consoles then. To be constantly bombarding us to 'buy more DLC', then tell us 'don't use it now', I think someone really needs to consider what this makes EA/Maxis look like.
As it is, until this issue, not just the current version, but the overall issue of the game crashing on consoles, is properly addressed, I will not be buying any more of the packs or content. I strongly encourage every other console user to adopt much the same philosophy. In the end, the company won't really take it seriously until they see it as a threat to their profits. If they feel that they will actually lose money by neglecting a large portion of their paying customers, they will finally put real effort into addressing the real issues.
