Severe lag after 1 hour of gameplay : requires restart
Hi, I'm experiencing a major performance issue that seems to affect a lot of players (I asked my community and many confirmed having the same problem). When I first launch the game, everything runs smoothly. Menus like Needs, Inventory, and Aspirations open instantly. Build/Buy mode is fine too, with maybe a tiny freeze the first time, but that’s normal. The issue is: the longer I play, the worse the game performs. - After around 30 minutes, the menus start to feel a bit slower. - After about an hour, the game becomes extremely laggy: - Opening the Needs panel takes a few seconds. - Build/Buy mode freezes for 5–6 seconds before opening. - The Eyedropper tool has a delay of around 2 seconds. - UI and general interactions become very sluggish. The only fix is to completely restart the game. After relaunching, everything is smooth again — but only temporarily. After another 30–60 minutes, the problem comes back. This isn’t a hardware issue. My PC setup: - Intel Core i9-12900K - 64 GB DDR5 RAM - NVIDIA RTX 4090 - Game installed on SSD - No mods, no CC - All expansion packs installed I also tend to play fast-paced, usually on speed 3. In one hour of real-time gameplay, I can go through 10–14 Sim days. It seems like the game is slowly filling up memory or cache that never clears unless I restart. It would be great to know if this has already been reported or tracked by the dev team, because it makes long play sessions really frustrating. Thanks!
Frozen game/menu after ad
I'm yet again having the issue where the full-screen splash ads for packs that I already own freeze the game and make it unplayable. This is incredibly frustrating and it has been going on - and a fairly common issue - ever since these full-screen splash ads were added to the game. I shouldn't need mods to simply be able to load into the game, and after the last update even mods can't fix it. You've now even got creators EA has partnered with for packs in the past unable to get into their own games due to this. If EA can't get the splash ads to stop freezing the game for all players, they need to either turn them off or let us turn them off. I buy all the packs, but I won't be for much longer if being able to play the game on any given day keeps being a lottery due to the broken splash ads. Time/Sim freezes while environment still moves
This is a very specific bug symptom so please only post here if you see all of the below in your game. There are many similar issues, so this should be kept to this issue only. This can either be an extreme lag or a total freeze. Symptoms in the game Time stand still although there can be a delay where time moves for a but when part of UI is frozen You can't click on anything Sims move but do interactions endlessly Environment moves If you have multiple household members, you can't switch between them. Going to the map in this state can lead to endless loading You can still switch to build mode but only delete one item. Not all households are affected. Unsure what causes it. Unsure/More info needed It start happening at a specific time Computer starts to use up a lot of the resources Not this issue Sims don't respond to commands, standing around doing nothing
Sims keep freezing
After completing the new update on the Sims 4, I'm constantly having to reset them. They all just stop moving. I have no mods on my game, no old files or saves as I got so fed up with it I removed everything and re-installed the game, created a new household of one and it just keeps freezing. Placing lots from the gallery freezes game/endless loading
Computer: PC, Windows 10 I am having issues with the game after the February 25th update where trying to use the gallery effectively doesn't work. I am connected to the internet and initially it'll work fine but when trying to use it repeatedly, such as trying out multiple uploaded lots, the gallery will become stuck on the loading screen and won't load anymore lots, and will tell me that it is having issues. I have tried updating my drivers, removing the tray file, removing all mods, and repairing the game but it still keeps happening. These attempts initially worked for a bit but eventually the gallery would freeze again. Any help would be appreciated. I also recently upgraded my computer so it is possible that it's related to that but as far as I can tell my GPU, CPU and ram is all working as intended. Again, I made sure drivers were updated as I heard that that could cause some issues. Newest Update - Memory Leak / RAM Usage
The new update has introduced along with it a memory issue. RAM usage now continues to rise until the system experiences memory exhaustion. Please note that this was not the case before the most recent update. I tried with and without mods. There is a faster loading time on the un-modded game, but RAM usage is still the issue. For reference my specs: i-7 8700k CPU 3.7 GHZ| NVIDIA GeForce 4070 Ti Super 16GB | 32GB RAM | page file is 50G | 725GB Disk space FREE Attached are save files for both modded and un-modded.
