HUT Captain Sets
So I just dumped my entire collection of 82s - 85s to build only 3 90 ovr Captains cards, as I'm attempting to create one of the new 96 Captains cards. However, I made 2 Jenner 90 ovr captains cards and 1 Spurgeon 90 ovr card. Because, you would think, that a game like this would allow you to use any 90 ovr card for any set, right? Wrong. Apparaently for the 93 ovr card I need to use division-specific 90 ovr Captains? Why? I just wasted a whole bunch of cards on a 90 that I can't use in a set. I'm making this for EA to resolve the issue and allow all __ ovr crads to be turned into ___ sets. Everything in this game is back assward. The defensive AI perfectly watch the lanes while your offensive ai just stand there soon as you pass to them it’s an interception. Not to mention it feels like we are playing defence without sticks because we don’t have a poke check. Everyone makes a pass here and there and skates with one player trying to take it to the net or spam d2d. The super Mario let the pass go through needs to be deleted from the game. Like I’m literally trying to pass to that guy. Hey guys, I mainly play Franchise Mode, and I wanted to share a few observations that I hope can be passed along to the developers. First of all, considering that it’s already April and we’re probably only about half a year away from the release of NHL 27, I’m not really expecting any major updates or fixes for NHL 26 at this point. So please take this more as general feedback and suggestions for improvement for the next installment. Goalie mask variety within the same team Why do most goalies on the same team use identical masks? When there’s a goalie change during a game and the broadcast camera shows them passing each other, they often look almost identical except for the name and number on the jersey. Goalie puck-handling and situational awareness Goalies feel quite passive and “unintelligent” when it comes to interacting with the puck and helping their teammates. For example, during a power play, if the opposing team clears the puck into my defensive zone, in real hockey the goalie will often skate out to intercept it and quickly move it to a teammate to help maintain offensive pressure. In NHL 26 the goalie usually just stays in the crease and watches the puck go by. Only rarely will they go behind the net to play it. Similarly, when the puck is loose near the crease, real goalies will often cover it to stop play or poke it away from danger. In the game they usually just stand there and watch the puck unless a skater interacts with it. Improving goalie awareness and puck-handling decisions would make the gameplay feel much more realistic. Line changes after icing Another gameplay detail that feels unrealistic is what happens after icing. When I ice the puck, the opposing team should have the opportunity to change lines and put fresh players on the ice. In the game, however, the AI often keeps the same exhausted players on the ice instead of taking advantage of the situation. In real hockey teams almost always use an icing situation to send out a fresh line, so it feels strange when the AI doesn’t do this. Again, I understand that NHL 26 might already be late in its cycle, but hopefully this kind of feedback can be useful for improving NHL 27. Personally, I’d really like to see more attention to gameplay details and realism in the next release, especially since recent NHL titles have felt very similar from year to year. I have been frustrated for the last few iterations of the game with regards to the way the Operations Budget works. I understand the concept is to give different a challenge with regards to the Owner Personality and how that impacts the budget. But, the amount of money you get to Upgrade and Maintain your facility, for example, if you have an Owner Personality with 1 Star for Spending means you will NEVER be able to maintain your facility and you will always have sub-60 Fan Happiness. There are owners in real life who are cheap as hell so I wouldn't want to remove the challenge of managing a stingy owner as a President. However, it is time to allow us to set the budget for each arm of the Operations Budget. I should get a total budget and then be able to set how much of the budget I want to set for Coaching, Scouting, Promotions, Scout Travel and Arena Operations. The HUT interface is particularly slow today. It seems the inventory in HUT, if you can call it that, is broken. Player cards and collectibles I've earned can randomly disappear and reappear. For example, I received six Game Breaking collectibles and tried to trade them for player 95, but they weren't selectable. After a while, they appeared. This behavior often occurs when trading sets in TOTS: cards appear, then disappear. Auto Fill also sometimes doesn't work, although manually selecting cards from your collection works. I think this started with the TOTS event, but it might be related to the hidden Grudge Match tasks. Also, Inbox sometimes shows that there is something in it, but when you try to open it, it shows a message that it is empty. I play BAP almost exclusively with a little Franchise sprinkled in here and there. Anyone who plays Be a Pro probably agrees that getting points-goals and assists- is critical to your progression, and too much so. That being said, it makes it even more frustrating when it feels like the game is a bit stingy when awarding assists. I’ll make a beautiful feed to Bedard or Debrincat only to have them mishandle the biscuit or get robbed by the tender. That is acceptable, but what is frustrating is that many times the puck will go in but we get the “he put the puck into his own net” outcome and the goal goes unassisted. I’ve been a rabid hockey fan for going on fifty years and have a decent understanding of the rules, lol. It’s just frustrating when you do everything right and the game does its quirky thing and you get robbed of a precious point. Hi, I completed the David Pastrnak 97 Tots in Hut set yesterday, but the card completely disappeared once I got it. I hope you can fix it. I also had a different type of error with Shea Weber 92ovr, and no one fixed anything, no one even responded. I’m in Newfoundland Canada on the east coast and get 40 ping which is whatever. The main problem is the server is in Montreal and I play Montreal players on less than 5 every game. Why can you set the ping between certain ranges. Either that or a server needs to be further east. First of all, I just want to say great job on NHL 26, it’s a really fun and well-made game. This is actually my first NHL game, and I’m really enjoying it so far (hopefully not my last haha!). I think it would be a really valuable addition if NHL 26 allowed players to manually select an artificial input delay when playing offline against the CPU. Right now, offline gameplay feels very different compared to online matches. In my case, I usually play with around 40–60 ms ping in multiplayer, which introduces a noticeable input delay. This completely changes the timing, reactions, and overall feel of the game. Because of that, practicing offline doesn’t really translate well to online performance. Everything feels more responsive offline, so when you jump into multiplayer, it’s almost like playing a different game. If we had the option to simulate input delay against the CPU, we could practice under conditions that are much closer to real online gameplay. This would help players adapt better, improve consistency, and make the transition between offline and online modes much smoother. It wouldn’t need to be complicated, just a simple slider or preset values (e.g., 20 ms, 40 ms, 60 ms, etc.) would already make a big difference. I think this kind of feature would be especially useful for competitive players who want to train properly, but also for anyone who regularly plays online and wants a more consistent experience across all modes. I think most of us agree X factors are pretty poorly implemented, and it's only gotten worse. The idea of incorporating them isn't bad imo.. but what we currently have and the level of difference they make is too extreme. Ankle breaker- imo not xfactor should make the opponent worse. If i don't get tricked by a deke why would my skater be forced to? If we want a deke ability then just boost dekeing and open up the window for lacrosse goals. Backhand beauty- this is already a great ability without added speed on backhand shots. This boosting accuracy on shots and passes off the backhand IS exactly what an Xfactor should be, it boosts something that attributes can't and separates skaters with it from skaters without it. It will fit some playstyles but not others. Big Rig- honestly never used it.. Big Tipper- Someone without the xfactor can already tip extremely well. An Xfactor needs to differentiate. In NBA 2K they have a rebound ability that can tell you where a loose is going to go. Maybe this needs to be mixed with that eclipse ability but have an indicator saying exactly how much we are blocking the goalie vision then maybe a green cone showing where we are set to tip. Born leader- never used it Elite edges and Wheels- there are already attributes for these.. increasing speed, agility, and acceleration is just always going to be too good. The devs knew that in the last game, then forgot? Hipster- good, balanced, differentiates a player. No contest- good, balanced, differentiates a player. One T- differentiates.. maybe a little on the high end of effectiveness though? Pressure+ - this would be okay if players didn't just skate in and throw it on net and get the meter so high. I would get rid of this. Quick pick- good, balanced, differentiates a player. I think this could use a boost. I feel like I get less interceptions when I have this on and see more deflected passes instead. Quick release- just like with speed, this is just going to be too good. No way for this to be balanced. Shot power is already an attribute. This is unnecessary. Rocket- similar to ankle breaker, having abilities that make another player worse (in this case the goalie) is bad.. also rebounds are already too good. Offensive players are just holding up on the right stick hoping to get one, and they will be drawn into the puck, while D has to get to it first. Second wind- endurance is already an attribute.. doesn't differentiate.. bad. Send it- honestly I don't hate this one.. Spark plug- why would it give a speed boost after a hit? What player in hockey gets a boost to speed after a hit? Stick em' up- good, balanced, differentiates a player. Tape to tape- good, balanced, differentiates a player. Truculence and unstoppable force- both far too effective. Truc players stay down for too long, auto targeting too effective, window of time to make a hit after they get rid of the puck is too big. I'm fine with the ability existing, but just give a targeting buff we have attributes for hit power, maybe also add some type of alternative animation unique to truc users / players with high enough discipline that keep them from boarding or something. Unstoppable force, I've seen players run around reverse hitting people over and over.. they try to poke or just get into position and get hit.. I can understand if the player they're doing this to is a 5'10 160 sniper it would still look a bit silly with how it currently works but if they're making contact totally cool with reverse hitting working.. I would remove the ability for anyone without the xfactor and make it very sitautional/ only use it vs smaller players for people who do have it. They tried to balance these by using points.. but when they added EA builds, and grudge matches we see how that isn't the fix. They are supposed to differentiate players but everyone is using the same small handful of these even with the points added. I know EA needs xfactors in all their games, and NHL only has so much they can do to differentiate players. We gotta get rid of game breaking xfactors and unbalanced ones even if it means having less.. Xfactors to consider? Enforcer- the option to fight is given when when the opposing team takes a penalty against their team, they get a boost to fighting, if they win the fight not only will their team gain energy but the opposing team loses a significant amount due to a drop in morale. Currently enforcers can't even be enforcers. (This being said I also think clean hits should NOT mean we can be forced into a fight, if female characters can't fight, allow me to have my male character not fight) Refresh and reset- having this xfactor will slightly increase stamina of team when taking a draw in offense or defensive zone, it will also significantly reduce the pressure meter/ get rid of full pressure when taking the draw in the defensive zone (if not after an icing call) DSS master- no speed penalty when using DSS, very low chance of penalty when poking stick out/ sweeping the DSS. Human shield- defensive player will get in front of a high danger shot if in the vicinity of its path. Loose puck psychic- shows best angle to retrieve any loose puck, including rebounds (this would be a line on the screen) Deke on a dime- if you successfully pull off a deke you get a limited time boost to agility and acceleration. Back net magician-faster speed on lacrosse goals and bigger window of success, more speed on passes/ and some auto sauce when passing from behind the goal line. Rat- if hit after the whistle there will be a penalty. This player can hit others, pester, shoot on opposing net without having to answer the bell or getting a penalty of their own. If someone challenges them to a fight they can choose not to answer and have the other skater sit for enticing it. Just think about the different NHL strategies or the different archetypes in the NHL and what skills those would entail.45Views0likes0CommentsGameplay is infuriating
I came back after taking a break in NHL 25. Coming back and playing HUT has been fun with the rewards and you actually get stuff for playing but the gameplay isn’t worth it. The constantly L2 spam mixed with not having any defence and terrible offensive AI with the defensive AI perfectly watching passing lanes just makes it so everyone is skating with one player taking it to the net. Real hockey is non stop passing to create space. Everyone skating backwards. Goalies make routine saves on cross crease one timers but if you shoot it from almost behind the goal line it goes in 50 percent lol. Okay I think I have tried this before! How does a PC in be a pro pick up a puck? You can be ahead of a NPC but somehow they just miraculously pick up the puck! Oh I know I can maybe poke it ahead or slash it ahead. I just wonder why I can’t just pick it up? I mean I am supposed to be the up and comer. You play with all those sliders before completing your PC and yet once in the game the PC just skates by a puck or a NPC just picks it up before you do.
