Change One Word Game
Welcome to the new Sims forum (Change one word in the sentence keeping 6 words)Jayel-117 hours agoSeasoned Ace2.7KViews6likes768CommentsBring back Castaway!
I spent my childhood playing sims 2 castaway after my sister introduced me to it. I’ve been many of years on and off after brining my PlayStation 2 back out to relive it and play again. Unfortunately with the technology getting older with the game and everything else advancing it is becoming more and more difficult to be able to play it. There is still absolutely no game like it or that even compares to what this game offered and I wouldn’t even think twice before buying a new release for my PlayStation or even Pc just to play that game again. I’m sure there are many others that agree. It is still the best sims game hands down in my eyes and I’ve played them all for many hours. Island living on sims 4 doesn’t even come close like others might say. Please look into it!!! 🥺Eliyah571118 hours agoSeasoned Newcomer156Views7likes4CommentsThe Sims Medieval not launching
I bought the Sims Medieval two days ago. While the game and the P&N DLC seem to install fine, neither will launch. I don't get a screen, error, or anything. I get the spinning loading icon, and then Origin pops back up. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game five times. I've tried launching it with and without P&N installed. I've repaired the files and tried launching them. I've tried running it in compatibility mode and as an administrator. I deleted the cache files in Origin and on my PC. I cannot seem to get this game to launch no matter what I do. The most luck I've had was to go into the Program Files (x86) > Origin Games > Sims Medieval > Game > Bin, and then tried launching the game and the launcher from there. The launcher gave me an error saying "Unable to start. Please reinstall the Sims Medieval base game." I'm wondering if there's a setting on my computer that's blocking this, but I can't think of what. I'm on Windows 10.Solved30KViews0likes42CommentsWhen will you abandon playing The Sims?
It was suggested to me that people over the age of 30 should not be playing The Sims. At what age will you be when you decide you are too old to play The Sims? For reference, I am over 50, and love the game, and have no intention of abandoning playing :)gertie473 days agoSeasoned Veteran169Views2likes11CommentsSims Cookbook
I was just on Amazon because I was looking for a multiple light Plumbob Headband (you know so I could change the colors depending upon my mood). Well, I came across this. Has anyone seen it? Has anyone ordered it? If yes, then are they any good?mikkimouse19783 days agoSeasoned Hotshot35Views1like1CommentThe Sims
*The Absence of Direct Control in Sims: A Balanced Discussion* The Sims series has long been known for its engaging gameplay and addictive nature, but one aspect that has sparked debate among fans is the absence of direct control in certain gameplay mechanics. In this piece, we'll explore the pros and cons of this design choice and compare it to classic control mode. *The Case for Absence of Direct Control:* 1. *Increased Autonomy*: By giving Sims more autonomy, players can experience a more realistic and immersive simulation. Sims can make their own decisions, form relationships, and pursue careers without constant player intervention. 2. *Streamlined Gameplay*: Without direct control, gameplay becomes more streamlined, allowing players to focus on high-level decisions and strategy rather than micromanaging every aspect of their Sims' lives. 3. *Emergent Storytelling*: The absence of direct control can lead to emergent storytelling, where Sims' interactions and relationships create unique and unexpected narratives. *The Case Against Absence of Direct Control:* 1. *Loss of Agency*: Some players feel that without direct control, they lose agency and the ability to shape their Sims' experiences and outcomes. 2. *Frustration and Unpredictability*: Without direct control, Sims may make decisions that contradict the player's intentions, leading to frustration and unpredictability. 3. *Limited Customization*: The absence of direct control can limit the player's ability to customize their Sims' experiences and create specific storylines. *Comparison to Classic Control Mode:* Classic control mode, where players have direct control over their Sims, offers a more hands-on experience. Players can dictate every action, decision, and interaction, providing a high level of agency and customization. However, this can also lead to: 1. *Increased Complexity*: Direct control can add complexity to gameplay, making it more challenging to manage multiple Sims and their relationships. 2. *Less Emergence*: With direct control, the gameplay experience can become more predictable, reducing the potential for emergent storytelling. *The Best of Both Worlds:* Perhaps the ideal solution would be a hybrid approach, where players can choose between direct control and more autonomous gameplay. This would allow players to: 1. *Customize Their Experience*: Players could opt for direct control when they want to shape specific storylines or outcomes. 2. *Enjoy Emergent Storytelling*: Players could also choose to give Sims more autonomy, allowing for emergent storytelling and a more immersive experience. *Request to EA:* We, the Sims community, would love to see more flexibility in gameplay mechanics, allowing players to choose between direct control and more autonomous gameplay. This could be achieved through: 1. *Optional Gameplay Modes*: Introduce optional gameplay modes that cater to different player preferences, such as a "Direct Control" mode and an "Autonomous" mode. 2. *Settings and Preferences*: Provide players with settings and preferences that allow them to customize the level of control they have over their Sims. By offering more flexibility in gameplay mechanics, EA can cater to a wider range of players, enhancing the overall Sims experience and fostering a more engaged and creative community. *Join the Discussion:* Share your thoughts on the absence of direct control in Sims and the pros and cons of classic control mode. Do you prefer direct control, or do you enjoy the autonomy of Sims? Let's discuss!wazjpj87x4ay3 days agoNewcomer15Views0likes0CommentsWhat Music Are You Listening To Right Now?
This was a long running thread in the Off Topic section of the old Vanilla forums. Many of us were introduced to so many new artists we might never have found otherwise. We were reminded of old favorites we had forgotten too. Music moves the world, this thread is a place to celebrate the most universal art form. EDM, Blues, Punk, Metal, Hip Hop, Soul, if it moves you share it here. Don't You Worry Child - Swedish House Mafia3.1KViews11likes460CommentsProposal New Sims Game
Proposal for a New Sims Game — The Ultimate Community Dream Hello, EA and Maxis Team, I've been a passionate fan of The Sims since its inception, and I want to share with you a dream that many players, like myself, yearn for: a new Sims game that fuses the best of all the previous installments (Sims 1, 2, 3, and 4), while also introducing innovations that make the experience even richer, deeper, and more free-flowing. I want to imagine a game where: Seamless, open world: The player can move freely through a living world, without loading screens between neighborhoods, districts, or areas, so the experience is fluid and natural, like a true life simulation (just like The Sims 3). Unlimited building and customization: Being able to edit and create not just houses, but entire neighborhoods and landscapes with intuitive and powerful tools, allowing you to create everything from a modern city to a charming small town. Sims with Real Emotional Depth: I want Sims to have memories that affect their behaviors, emotions, and decisions over time, with complex relationships that evolve over time, including secrets, conflicts, and unforgettable moments. Creating Sims with Soul: A creation system that combines the depth of traits, aspirations, and characteristics from all series, with customizable options for appearance, personality, tastes, zodiac signs, compatibility system, and lifestyle, making each Sim unique (combining everything from The Sims 1, 2, 3, and 4 regarding this theme). Realistic Transportation and Mobility: Integrating functional modes of transportation, from cars and bikes to public transit or magic options, so that getting around is part of the experience (just like The Sims 2 or 3). Creature and Role Diversity: Include vampires, mermaids, ghosts, aliens, robots, fairies, wizards, and more, with their own stories and ways of interacting in the world, enriching diversity and narrative possibilities (as in The Sims 3 and 4). Artistic and Cultural Expression: Incorporate venues for live music, dancing, painting, writing, and other art forms into the game, encouraging creativity and social interaction, and even adding a new profession, such as singer or musician. Family and Multigenerational Dynamics: Simulate family life with generational changes, inheritances, unexpected events, and evolving personal stories, reflecting the complexity and beauty of real life. Also, allow others in The Sims to age, not just the family you control. Realistic and Emotional Interactions: Authentic animations and responses to interpersonal relationships, from simple gestures to profound displays of affection or conflict, to make Sims feel more alive and human (The Sims 2 and a bit of The Sims 3 and 4). Integration of a Karma or Destiny system: Where Sims' actions have lasting consequences on their lives and the world around them, encouraging meaningful choices. Narrative and Roleplay Tools: Easily enable players to create complex in-game stories, with options to guide events, dialogue, and Sims' destinies. Sound and Music Customization: Allow players to integrate or create their own music within the game and create custom radio stations, giving each world its own unique atmosphere. Music Bands and Solo: As in other Sims games, there's the option to create a rock band, or any band of any genre of music, or for an individual to be a musician of any genre they choose. Layered clothing and hair, and more aesthetic freedom: Clothes can be worn in sections (like in Sims 3), accessories can be combined freely, garments can be dyed in-game, and textures or patterns can be chosen. Also, hair can be layered and multiple colors. Deep personality and memory system (like in Sims 2): Sims have real memories, traumas, complex emotions, and their own opinions, all of which influence how they relate to each other and evolve over time. Full life cycle and more age stages: Infants, toddlers, pre-teens, teens, young adults, adults, seniors, and seniors, with unique activities, entertainment, and changes for each stage. Improved weather system and natural cycles: More realistic seasons, occasional natural disasters (storms, heavy snowfall, earthquakes), moon phases, eclipses, high and low tides in beach areas, etc. More human and realistic relationships: Unique hugs based on emotions, gentle caresses, deep reconciliations, painful breakups, jealousy, infidelity, love triangles, open or polyamorous relationships, etc. Better-Developed Education and More Realistic Family Life: Playable schools, colleges, and universities with realistic activities, interactions, teachers, personalized classes, homework, and a deeper social life for teens and young adults. Playable schools, preschool, high school, university, parent conferences, camps, adoptions, active grandparents, divorces, family secrets, legacies, and inheritances. Advanced AI and Narrative Autonomy: Autonomous Sims who act according to their personalities, relationships, and environment; NPCs who develop their own lives, find partners, work, and make mistakes. Richer object interactions: Each object has many realistic options, such as cleaning appliances, personalizing furniture, storing memories, playing instruments with emotions, or repairing things with real tools. Modern in-game technology: Deeper fictional social networks, influencers, in-game video games, streaming, online stores, dating apps, home automation, virtual assistants, etc. Memory System and Photo Album: Capture key moments in your Sim's life, save them in a journal or family album, relive them, and have them emotionally impact you in the future. Events, festivals, and multifunctional packages: Cultural/local celebrations, events (Christmas, fairs, carnivals), hotels, resorts, and mixed packages (shop + home, bars, sports centers). Various hobbies and industries: Skateboarding, yoga, organized sports (leagues), policing, firefighting, tattooing, worship, streaming, cooking, advanced gardening, science, creative roles and so on. This new game would be the perfect bridge between the nostalgia of the classics and the innovation of the future, a gift to the community that wants to experience their stories with freedom, depth, and love. Thank you for considering my vision. I'm excited to see how The Sims evolve and hope this idea provides inspiration for creating an unforgettable experience. With all my love, A passionate fan and dreamer who just wants everything from previous series combined into one game and more to come.Remintei7 days agoSeasoned Novice48Views0likes0CommentsSims 1 and 2 rerelease on Mac?

Since it seems EA has been trying to make older Sims titles available for purchase on newer platforms, The Sims, The Sims 2 and the My Sims series of games. I really hope EA considers re-releasing The Sims 2 Castaway. It was a really underrated gem on the PS2/Wii and really deserves the re-release treatment so new players can experience it. I doubt anybody with enough pull to make this happen will ever read this but I'm really hoping this post helps get the idea to someone at EA!PliskinYT11 days agoSeasoned Newcomer54Views2likes1Comment- 2.2KViews1like63Comments
Can't access saves in menu (Sims Medieval)
I'm on PC, using the latest BS Windows (Windows 11, version 24H2) has put out and now Sims Medieval is not accessing my saves. I can open the game, start a new game, play the game and even save the game but once I leave and come back the save is nowhere to be found on the menu. I know I have the save. I see it in my files! The game even tells me I can't name my save the same thing as a file that already exists. I've had a save on there before it worked and was fine but that before the update in 2024. I haven't played in a really long time so I'm thinking it's the Windows 11, version 24H2 that's the problem. I just want to know if I need to downgrade to windows 10 again. Unfortunately, I don't know if or what version Medieval worked with Windows 11. I also can't remember this being a problem before but it always was I just got lucky before. What I've tired that did not work: looking for answers here but can't find my specific problem. uninstalling and reinstalling the game moving my saves around starting new saves (no save file is ever found on the menu) cleared caches repair in EA launcher tried renaming the file (worked but then the same issue occurred after trying to save it again) I'm not sure what else to do other then getting windows 10 back on my PC but I'd rather not do that if there's another fix.Bubblezwitch15 days agoSeasoned Newcomer59Views0likes1CommentHow long have you been playing The Sims (any version) for?
I've been playing for 15+ years and have played and transitioned to all versions 1,2,3,4. After playing all these years this game holds a special place in my heart 💗. It sounds corny but this game has been there with me through many different (some difficult) stages of my life and has been my creative outlet to get through some of these stages.simmemoirs15 days agoSeasoned Hotshot58Views1like2Comments
