Nope, I don't merge anything more than 150mb in one package file, its all very organized. I have tried it with merged package files and without, it just goes to "Not Responding" on both platforms...

Brand new game on each platform with just your CC added? Disabled Origin in-game?
I'm running out of ideas.....! @jjaiis_
Which versions ofmacOSand Windows are you running? Have you verified/repaired the drive in Disk Utility?Reminded myself you're running Sierra.
How is your Mods folder set up? Is everything in the one Mods folder or do you have the CC organised into sub folders? If so how many subs?
All of it is unzipped right?

I am running on MacOS Sierra version 10.12.6 (16G1510) and Windows 10. I don't think I have repaired the drive, though I tried repairing the game via Origin, didn't work! 😕
Yes, very organized, no zips, rar or crdownloads.
just an image to show its current folders

That is a beautifully organised Mods folder 🙂 What's within those folders? More folders or all the grouped CC?
Have you tried a mixture of CC to see if you can get over the 2Gb threshold?
Would it upset you at all if you got rid of all the characters and spaces in the folder and filenames? I uploaded an Automator app which makes this process a lot quicker. You just drag and drop the folders and their contents onto the app and it gets rid of them all - https://bluebellflora.com/using-automator-to-remove-characters-from-sims-4-cc-filenames-on-a-mac/ - Anonymous7 years ago
My merged cc is without any spaces or characters :
Also I have tried mixing up cc or just adding random files, anything over 2.3 or sometimes 1.7gb it goes into the "Not Responding" phase, and in those organized folders is my cc un-merged, but in categories.

Could you give me a few links to some of that CC? If they're stupidly high poly I wonder if your Mac is simply struggling to run the game with them installed. Although I doubt it as you say it worked on the same Mac with the HDD previously.
Did you manage to check the drive in Disk Utility yet? - Anonymous7 years ago
Its all maxis stuff, maybe some high alpha poly stuff like pralinesims or redheadsims cc but otherwise everything mm (nolan, ah00b, all creators), but I never had issues running them before?
and also I am unsure how to check my drive in disk utility?
These are drives :

Thanks! Open Disk Utility, click on File in the menu bar then Run First Aid. Is there a reason why you're still running Sierra? Can you upgrade to High Sierra or Mojave? The new Apple file system (APFS) was introduced in High Sierra and improves performance. By upgrading you will also be repairing the permissions in the OS and I'm wondering whether something has corrupted in the install on the SSD. - Anonymous7 years ago
Will the run first aid delete any files? I have never done it before..
Also I never upgraded to HighSierra bc my friends had some issues with it, and as of Mojave, no reviews known as of yet?I don't know if anything got corrupted but all my apps, Photoshop and everything else work very well, and I got it done by some professional!
- @jjaiis_
No, it won’t delete anything but if everything else is working fine then leave it.
Try this next - move your Sims 4 folder to the desktop then launch the game so a new one is created. Quit the game then copy some of your CC over into the newly created Mods folder, just under 2Gb worth. Load up your game and if it works quit then add more CC. See how far you can get by adding in a few folders at a time. - Anonymous7 years ago
Oh I have tried that several times, although I did try download my game on my external drive before, but it didn't work out so I shifted it back to my SSD, but I did delete the EA folders in the process that it generated, and tried putting the entire folder in. Nothing seems right though since Origin slow downloads...
@jjaiis_
How did you get on with the suggestions in the Mac Origin thread?Regarding High Sierra and Mojave, no reason why you shouldn't update, plenty of us are playing on Macs with running them.
- Anonymous7 years ago
I have tried several things including the Origin installation repair, non of them seem to solve my slow download issue, I also contacted EA a few weeks ago about this, I received an email with several solutions but none of them to fix this solve download, I tried to search for EACore.ini file on my Macintosh side but I have been unable too... Also I shall upgrade to high sierra or mojave soon then, do you think it'd fix the problem?
- @jjaiis_
Did enabling Safe mode not do anything? I can't say for certain whether upgrading to a later version of the OS will definitely fix it..... but it may do 🙂 - Anonymous7 years ago
Hey @Bluebellflora,
Greetings
Enabling safe mode on was the first thing I actually did, and it in fact made the download speed way slower, also what do you recommend High Sierra or Mojave?
- Anonymous7 years ago
Hey @Bluebellflora
Just an update I updated to Mojave, couldn't do it to High Sierra, the download speed was okay, I found a way to sort of fix it but as far as CC goes still can't open the 13gb folder...
- @jjaiis_
I've no idea I'm afraid. I wonder if it's just too much for your Mac to handle? It's not an exact figure is it? I think you said that it can be 2Gb, or 1.7Gb or just over 2Gb so I wonder whether some of your CC is really high poly/large files which it's struggling with? - Anonymous7 years ago
Hey, @Bluebellflora
I seem to have fixed my issue and my cc works, thank you so so much for the help all along, you're angel, xx
- Anonymous7 years ago
I merged my cc altogether again and checked everything one by one, followed by in pairs and so on and I removed things that took a while to load and I finally could access everything, so far as slow downloads go its still an issue, but I have tried everything for it, guess can't have everything 😳
