I spoke with someone at EA, and they advised me that they can’t tell me that I need a newer computer, but that they strongly suggest that I should get one.
Then I called Apple, and they told me that the most recent update from EA/Origin cut my computer out of the equation! I’ve always loved The Sims, but I can’t afford a new computer every few years along with the cost of expansion packs, game packs, etc.
So, since the computer I bought for this game is set to automatically download updates, I just don’t get to play anymore unless I can cough up the cash for a new computer rather than paying all of my medical bills, hence my playing The Sims so flippin much!
hopefully you can afford a new computer soon. Start saving ASAP.

Yep, you shouldn’t need to run the Legacy Edition, your Mac supports Metal. Try this super repair https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612394#M815
@JenZeiner which exact Mac do you have? The OS is High Sierra. I bought that MacBook on eBay because I knew it’d let me play. I know it’s mid-2010, but at the time it was what I needed to play vs. my 2008 MacBook that I do everything else on. Here we are a year later, and as much as I have loved The Sims since 2000, I have to wave my white flag and toss in the towel. I can’t afford upgrades. 💔😭

Yeah, unfortunately it doesn’t support Metal ☹️ the FAQ in page 1 of this thread lists compatible Macs which may help when you eventually replace your Mac. Thanks. Replacing my Mac is the least of my concerns at this time. The Sims was a nice distraction from my cancer treatments. But, I can’t afford a new Mac just to play a game on.
thanks though! I’ll remember that just in case! 😌
