Sigh. You said in your first post that you know nothing about Mac. I'm trying to help you make an informed decision and not buy an outdated model Mac which will not play the game as well as the current model with M1 chip.

Yes, Apple brought out a 2020 model MacBook Air with Intel chip back in March. That model is not the current generation MacBook Air - Apple no longer sell it or manufacture it. They now manufacture a MacBook Air with an M1 chip which outperforms the previous model by miles. This is why retailers, like QVC, are offering discounts on the older model. Maybe this page on Apple's website will help - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201862

You asked for help, I'm trying to help you with accurate technical information. Good luck with whatever Mac you buy. This support page from Apple is very helpful for Windows users switching to using Macs https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204216

Hi, I'm another person who knows some stuff about Macs.

I'm thinking about getting this Mac computer https://www.qvc.com/2020-Apple-MacBook-Air-13%22-Intel-256GB-SSD-with-Bag%2C-Mouse-%26-Headphones.pr... . Keep in mind I do not know anything about Mac I'm currently a windows user . Will this computer play Sims 4

This computer will run Sims 4, but not very well, and not nearly as well as the much cheaper ($999) M1 MacBook Air.  Everything @Bluebellflora said is correct.

It's your money, and your choice what to do with it.  But if you want decent performance rather than lag and frequent crashes, an M1 Mac is the much better choice.

@gtgirl1999  I reread this thread (twice) just to make sure, and Bluebellflora never said that the linked Mac wasn't from 2020.  She said it was an "older model" and that the current MacBook Air has an M1 chip, which the linked model does not.  "Older" doesn't have to mean "not from 2020."

Anyway, I hope you have the info you came looking for and are ready to make a decision on what to purchase.

@gtgirl1999  Again, nowhere in the thread did Bluebellflora say that the Mac wasn't a 2020 model; she merely said it doesn't have an M1 chip, which it doesn't.  If you think I missed the place where she said it's not from 2020, please quote that to me, because I can't find it anywhere.  The part about it being "older" just means older than the M1 Macs, which is true, the M1 Macs were only released in November.

Bluebellflora was also right about the underlying point that the Air on sale doesn't have an M1 chip, both from the comments on the site and according to the commercial itself.

The MacBook Air is Apple's most affordable notebook and there are usually some offers for the holiday season. This year, you will once again find plenty of offers at local dealers and online shops. However, a closer look at the specs reveals that almost all models are discontinued SKUs with Intel processors. The big issue here is that both the Intel as well as the new Apple M1 model are often just listed as Apple MacBook Air 2020. If you do not pay attention, you will get a significantly inferior device.

    Where is the difference?

The most recent (Late 2020) update of the MacBook Air is probably the most important change in the recent years, because Apple now uses its own M1 ARM processor for the first time and waives the previous Intel Core CPUs. The performance of the new M1 silicone is not only much higher compared to the efficient Y-series CPUs of the previous MBA models, but the chip is also more efficient and does not need a fan anymore. The small chassis fan of the previous models was probably the biggest issue in our opinion, because it was not very efficient and just way too loud considering the low performance. The new MacBook Air M1 is now passively cooled and therefore always a silent

The old MacBook Air 2020 with the Intel Core i3 CPU (256 GB SSD) starts as low as $799 (Best Buy), the slightly faster Core i5 quad-core SKU (512 GB SSD) retails for around $1049. Both devices are much slower than the new MacBook Air 2020 M1 for $999 or even $899 in Apple's own education store. We definitely recommend the M1 model, especially if you you have already considered an i5 or even i7 SKU. We also think the i3 MacBook Air is still a bit expensive, so if possible, you should get the newer M1 model or wait for another price drop.

omg why the nastiness? I've just read the entire thread and nowhere did anyone say the sims 4 wouldn't play on the MacBook Air early 2020..they just said it wouldn't play AS WELL as on the late MacBook Air 2020 with the m1 chip.
