I'm going to test the Sims 4 after doing as you instructed and will try to restart my PC after playing. If it doesn't crash during restart/shutdown then it should be all good and will let you know.

I have done as you instructed. There were driver updates on HP and installed those, Windows are up-to-date, and ran a scan and found corrupted files that are now repaired. Played the Sims several times with no issues until right now the Sims 4 is causing an unknown issue whenever I try to shutdown my computer will cause the screen to freeze and restart. Right now Kernel Security Check is not triggering a BSoD right now.

Did this happen after the last game update?
Maybe first, try to repair the game in Origin.
By the way, have you any mods or CC in the game?

This begun when Windows received a giant update on August 2nd. At first it was BSoD and stutters when I play Sims 4, now it's causing freeze-then-restart when I try to shutdown my computer. This is happening with both CC and without CC.

Have you disconnected your second monitor?

To eliminate the possibility that the reason for this is errors is in the game do as is described below.
Go to Documents/ElectronicArts - inside will be The Sims4 folder
Step 1. Rename The Sims4 folder to "The Sims4 old"
Step 2. Fix the game in Origin
Origin/Library - right-click on TS4 - option "Repair game"
You have to wait until Origin will fix all packs, not only the base game.
Step 3. Turn on the game - a new game folder will be created and you will have two - one old, one new
Step 4. Check if you still have this problem in the newly created game folder.
If the problem disappeared
Step 5. Delete in the new game folder following folders:
"saves" and Tray.
Step 6. Go to "The Sims 4 old" folder and copy - your "saves " folder.
Step. 7, Paste this folder in a newly created game folder.
Step 8. Do the same with Tray folder and TrayDeleteItems file
Step 9. Check if there are newly updated version mods you are using.
Then copy and paste your mods and CC from old mods folder to the new one. First copy the scripts mods every time checking if the game is working properly. If you have a lot of CC try 50/50 method ( divide your CC into smaller batches for example 50 pieces in one subfolder and check these subfolders one by one)
Step. 10. Launch the game and check if this problem also disappeared in this old save. However, it may happen that although the new saves will not have this error anymore, the old save will remain damaged.
The last step - delete The Sims4 old folder.
Your saves and library will be not changed or damaged

By the way. If it will be work save the game option "Save as .. number " - not "Save and Quit".

I find it ridiculous that a Windows 10 update can mess up the Sims 4. Even before the update my game was running smoothly for a year with no issues with mods.

Unfortunately it still happened with the new Sims 4 folder. I'm going to try to uninstall Sims 4 then delete both old and new Sims 4 folders. After that I'm going to do a clean install to see that if that works. I still have backups of tray, saves and CC/mods.

Here's a new DxDiag. So far, only the Sims 4 causes the issue. Games like Fallout 4, Mass Effect, Catherine and Dragon Age creates no issue for me.

Shouldn't my graphic cards work with Sims 4? The game ran fine a year ago before the Window's August update. Right now I'm in the middle of installing the Sims 4.

Do you still need the Config. file?

Yes, I saw it before - nothing bad is there - but I was wondering how to answer. Because other players have recently reported the same problem as you have. " The game causes the computer to restart"
Other CPUs and graphics cards and the problem is the same.
There can only be two reasons for this on your computer. The installation of the graphics card drivers went wrong or the upgrade of Windows went wrong. It is quite possible that four people didn't install the drivers correctly, but more likely that the update of Windows went wrong for all.
You can try to reinstall the graphics drivers using DDU

but if it will not help I think you should contact the Microsoft Support and get advice on what to do about this update. They are certainly better specialists than me.

I've just recently reinstalled GeForce Game Ready Driver that handles updates for both GeForce GTX 1080 Ti drivers, both of them are up-to-date. Hopefully that works. I'll run a test on the Sims 4 later. It's just bizarre that a Windows update can screw up a single game.

@0megaJ0ker  Please unplug your external graphics card, at least long enough to test the game.  There's no reason a 1080 ti can't handle Sims 4, anyway.

I just recently uninstalled both graphics drivers and reinstalled them with GeForce Experience after reboot. The program installed the correct drivers. GTX 1080 Ti

But did you uninstalled them clean? (Meaning did you used a driver uninstall tool like DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) that @kreatora linked.

Furthermore, why are you using a External USB Graphics adapter for your second Monitor on a 1080ti SLI system?

And did you disconnected that Monitor, and then restarted your system, as @puzzlezaddict  suggested?

Sorry for the 2 month late reply, I've been really busy with work. To answer yes I did use DDU and reinstalled my Display Driver, I've stopped using the USB display adapter but the Sims 4 still triggers a BSoD during Shut Down even though it's not suppose to trigger it with my current hardware.

I never installed those two in my computer.

• Look under "C:Windows\Minidumps"
• There you should find "*.dmp" files with dates that match the BSOD crashes.
• Zip the last two of them together and load them up at a free file hosting site.
