It got nerfed because people cry when guns do damage.
The game community is top tier wuss bags.
Even if it got nerfed, it still racks up a lot of damage. Mastiff is very forgiving with it's pattern, and shotguns in itself have a very big advantage over every other gun, with only grows with certain nerfs of these weapons.
- @KelRiever Ehhh completely wrong way to look at it. This gun was 100% way to powerful for a ground drop gun. 2 shots and anyone was dead even if high end armor. It deserves more of a nerf imo or thrown back in the care packages.
I don’t think so. I think nearly every gun in this game is an excuse for people to think that they are better than they are.
When you get shot by a gun and get killed, only in this community do people bawl out loud that they had better skill and only if the guns were balanced would that person with ‘less skill’ not have killed them.
You know what mod I’d like? If you complain guns do too much damage, just for you and only your account you get to be one shot killed whenever you are hit by bullets.
Sure, the player count would drop. But the game might actually be more fun before it died.
- @KelRiever Skill is not something i lack in the slightest. Going on 17k games played and this is my feedback after all these games.
It didn’t get nerfed enough, you can still two tap people. I’ve tried it multiple times in the practice range and seen it still happen to some streamers in game
It needs another damage nerf so if someone has at least purple armour it’ll always take at least 3 shots to kill
- @KelRiever Shotguns are weapons that don't suffer from the usual disadvantages hip fire has. You keep full mobility while having a weapon in your hand that keeps the same accuracy, with no drawbacks whatsoever. Weapons that seemingly have decent hip fire and aren't shotguns get nerfed, like the Hemlok.
If Shotguns - just like other weapons - would suffer some kind of disadvantage when not scoped, we would solve almost all problems with "Hey, this particular shotgun is OP!" It’s not personal and tender feelings are why this conversation can’t even be had. The guns in this game need all to do more damage not less. Instead of nerfing the Mastiff, about 5 other guns minimum need to be buffed.
The whining will not end on weapons until they all do zero damage. Because until then, someone will die from something in game and bawl that it was OP and not them getting taken out by someone else better than them.
- @KelRiever I don't think you are understanding (or you don't want to understand) why people are complaining about the weapons when they do. And just because we are complaining about a Mastiff doesn't mean we don't want to see a buff to the weaker weapons.
And now that I think back to it, I have never heard anybody complaining about the R-301 Carbine or the VK-47 Flatline being too strong or too weak. So artificially speaking they're one of the most balanced weapons in the game. Meanwhile, people come forth... "Shotguns are overpowered" or "the Volt SMG is overpowered" or a while back the R-99 being too powerful. It all kinda adds up if you ask me. And it's strangely those types of weapons I see the most. If you doubled the damage of every weapon in this game you’d find out who plays best and who makes excuses about lag and FPS and every excuse for bad play under the sun.

- @KelRiever We dont want COD/warzone TTK. That, the movement and hero abilities are what make apex, apex. The last thing we need is apex to become a game of hiding.
Aside from your devotion e9 you can’t separate your feelings so I’ll just disagree with you. I think you are part of the feelings problems and that’s why you can’t let it go.
Hayhor, I kind of do, frankly. This game is at squirt gun level and people play they way. It makes Halo seem deadly. I know no one will double the damage on the guns but the whining has overtaken any actual balance or challenge.
people can’t deal with that sometimes they get killed by someone better than them, and they blame the guns. Which isn’t surprising. What’s surprising is how much Apex rolls over every time.
- @KelRiever Well the majority wont. And I disagree apex has constantly rolled over making guns do less damage. Other than the mastiff which gones have they done this too? Cause guns like the sentinel they upped the damage. Others they made the recoil easier or harder depending on where they were at. Most guns I actually get why they made changes. The havoc is the only gun I do not understand.

There are many ways to measure skill. Lowering the time to kill will not separate the skilled from the unskilled, as you suggested. As you lower the time to kill, engagements move more towards “who shot first”. Now YOU might think thats the best measure of skill, but plenty of people feel like longer TTK is a better method of determining who is more skilled, as it requires players to land more shots.
It makes me think of SWAT from Halo. That mode was fun and nuts but I much preferred the MLG settings. I knew guys who had their 50 in Swat but couldn’t get 50’s in Team Slayer or MLG. In my opinion, a longer TTK (within reason) is a much better measure of overall skill for a shooter. - @Bean2kay9 Def not. I've died several times with it in my hands today trying to 2 tap. I didn't look at the patch notes so I wasn't aware this was on their list. I'm actually surprised they listened to gamers on this cuz there's a ton of tother things they have ignored us on lol. I guess pros were complaining about it too.
- @KelRiever So a new player who drops on said gun and kills a pred on drop with 2 shots that happen to hit means they are better then the pred? Because out of 1 fight off drop they land on the best ground gun in the game means the new player was better? Good to know. lol
@KelRiever Let's face it, people who like low ttk find it difficult to kill someone cuz you know they lack gunplay skills. And want the dmg to be increased to compensate for that. Uwu I couldn't kill this guy from behind, UwU increase the dmg please cuz I can't land more than 2 bullets.
High ttk separates skilled from unskilled, anyone can land 5 bullets on an enemy. Dumping a whole magazine into someone is a whole different story. Imagine hitting your shots, couldn't be you.
People who want lower gun damage get mad when they get outplayed, that’s all there is to it. And they don’t want to admit they lost so they blame high damage.
That’s about the mastiff, the Peacekeeper, a sniper, an auto rifle, any weapon and pretty much every shooter.@KelRieversounds like you should go play COD, that weapon balance appears to be more your style. The difference in this game is that the way it is balanced it gives people a fighting chance even if they are shot in the back, it adds a higher skill cap to outplaying enemies vs simply winning because you saw them first

If you want a lower TTK, you should play COD.
- @JjumpingJjack Pshh his theory is if we die to mastiff then that user is better. The gun takes zero skill its point a shoot and watch the other person on the end of it be melted. He constantly keeps speaking of this skill thing. When the gun he defends takes zero skill to even use. This shows us where his skill levels really are and his way of thinking.
@BaldWraithSimpwell, its not as easy as you think. You still can land a headshot, and kill the guy with one bullet instead of 5.
For me it is also funny to need one whole magazin to kill someone. I know it'S not like in real life but come on, whole mag is a little bit over the top.
Thats why I liked the hardcore mode in Battlefield. But that's another game. I don't like high TTK in generall.@twitchSeriel_FPSthats the point, move smart, then you will not get shoot in the back, or you will be the one who sees the other one first, and you can still maybe survive, if you manage to land a headshot.
Higher TTK lets you also get away with bad positioning, ob bad decisions cause you just have more time.
It would be more tactical with lower TTK, so maybe they should turn this into a third person shooter, cause thats the way of a action FPS where you need 2 mags to kill someone.
Third partys would also not be as annoying as it is now, cause TTK ist lower, faster kills, more time to prepare for the next squad.Teammates would start to use their brain, or get killed in sec cause of rushing in as a brainless something
