Bees in Seasons pack not working?!

Apparently there are interactions with bees that don't seem to be available for me.

I can't feed or smoke my bees. The only interactions I have are bond with bees, collect honey, disturb and remove/put on beekeeper suit. I also have apply mite treatment but that is only when they are angry.

I have tried bonding with the bees many many many times but I keep getting poor quality honey and I cannot collect swarms, send them to pollinate plants, attack other sims etc. What am I doing wrong? How can I fix this?
