Re: Overly Harsh Present Feedback?

I get the same thing with gifting to wild animals, it can ruin an entire furry friendship.

Yesterday my Sim gave the wrong gift to a wild rabbit I'd named BunBun (I'll never name another wild rabbit again for reasons which are about to become clear). BunBun was a friend and was helping with gardening but he took offence to the gift and then to everything else my farmer Sim said to him after that. He hopped off absolutely fuming.

Literally minutes later a notification popped up that said a wild rabbit known to the household had died, farewell BunBun!

@simsplayer818  Oh, man, I hate it when your wild animal friends die! ☹️  So sorry to hear about that!

Oh, and another present feedback thing, um, sometimes I tell my Sim to give a thing to another Sim because *I* want them to have it, and I always feel bad for the gift-giver if they get a footstomp and negative friendship stuff and a sad moodlet from it. ☹️  No, The Watcher told Jennie to give you that Mermadic Kelp she found/that cowplant berry/whatever, be nice to her!

@xochiquetzl_xkvn , yes that does seem like an exaggerated reaction to a present!  I could see if it was meant to be a gag gift or a "gift" to an enemy, but even when you don't like a gift in real life, you don't behave like a brat about it! 😬😔

@simsplayer818 , I'm so sorry about BunBun and the trashed relationship (and subsequent death of BunBun!) 😭  When I lived in another town there used to be a rabbit that would come by and I fed it parsley (since I read that it is good for them) and the rabbit loved it!  I "named" it BunBun as well!  So when CotL came out last year, I named one of the wild rabbits BunBun after the one I used to feed.  But I haven't played that save file in a while, so our in-game relationship has never soured, thankfully!

I did have a thought over the weekend, that maybe this was implemented for Nifty Knitting as part of the "Successfully gift a knittable" thing? Hmm.

Okay, with all due respect... WHAT IS THIS?

A bride gave her new wife a rose as a Hannukah present less than 24 hours after the wedding.

"Caused her pain." She GAVE YOU A ROSE.

Of all the idiotic, petty, childish.........

@xochiquetzl_xkvn , good possibility with the Nifty Knitting pack and gifting! 💡

As for the newlyweds, the person receiving the rose as a gift must have encountered a thorn! 🌹🩸😥  Or else they have really bad allergies! 😉

As near as I can tell, they only like gifts worth more than $200 simoleons. :P

Maybe I should edit all my holidays. I really hate to do that, but.... it's infuriating. I did go looking at my favorite modders' sites for "Less Toddler-like Tantrums from Presents" and didn't see anything like that...

As for this couple, I felt like my options were to wait for the Team to release My Divorce Stories 😉 or to whip out UI Cheats. I chose cheating. 😉

Edit: Seriously, guys, "Hurt" because someone gave you a rose is an overreaction akin to the scene in Addams Family Values where Debbie talks about how her parents gave her Malibu Barbie instead of Ballerina Barbie.  😉

I agree that sims' negative reactions to gifts are really over the top. As far as I can tell, there's not even anything that will guarantee a sim will like your gift (e.g. something related to their likes; something they have a whim to buy; something handmade or from their spouse or child). I have thought about editing all of my holidays for the same reason.

@xochiquetzl_xkvn , I do remember in a very old version of the Sims (Sims 1 or Sims 2), in a console version, I had this one child that hated everything her parents gave her as a gift.  The child would break the gift and yell and stomp her feet.  Unfortunately there was no option to scold, or "talk about bad behavior" , or send her to her room, etc.  I was so happy that with TS4 in the Parenting GP there are options to teach your child not to behave in such a way! 😅
So, your problem with giving gifts in the game, reminds me of that version of the game, except it is adults who are acting like spoiled children ! 🤦‍♀️😓

I haven't seen The Addams Family Values in years, so I only vaguely remember that... on the other hand, Ballerina Barbie was the only Barbie I liked since all the Barbies of my time period had idiotic expressions on their faces😒, and Ballerina Barbie looked serious and like she had a brain!💗  (and the crown didn't hurt either! 😅)  What do I need a Barbie with tan lines for? 😂  My friend had Malibu Barbie and I hated it! 😅  That said, if my parents or anyone had given me a Malibu Barbie instead of a Ballerina Barbie, I would still play with it and know that it was better than no doll at all! 😊

    @PugLove888

Apparently, that was the cause of her first murder. She asked for Ballerina Barbie and got Malibu Barbie instead, so she burned the house down!  LOL!
