Re: Sims 4 baby missing

To my knowledge, babies cannot live on retail lots.  You'll need to age your baby up to toddler in order for them to live at the retail lot.

I have a problem with the babies in manage worlds. They are all appearing a dark skin tone without their parents having the same colour skin tone? Can we please have this bug fixed it is annoying me and ruining my story imaginary game play.

@Player_d40g34vv , are these Sims you have made or played before, or are these Sims the game generated?  The game will generate very random Sims in any given household, including hair, skin, and eye color. That is normal.🙂  However if these are Sims you made, or Maxis-made Sims , or Sims that you played prior and have suddenly changed skin colors, then that shouldn't be happening! 😥

Also, are you playing on a console or are you playing on a PC or Mac?  If you are playing on a PC or Mac, do you use any Mods or Custom Content (CC)?🤔

  • I made these sims. It's defiantly a bug in the game because every baby that is born into the game appears the darkest skin tone. I've been playing sims for years and have never seen this before so this defiantly isn't apart of the game. They just appear this way in manage worlds but when you go into the actual game play they are either their mothers skin tone or fathers skin tone.

I am playing on PC. I do use CC but it shouldn't be impacting the manage worlds portraits of every baby born.

@Player_d40g34vv , you would be surprised at what crazy things CC can interfere with! 😧  Is your CC up to date?. 🤔  We just had a game patch the other week and that will often cause CC to be outdated.  I've seen people who used outdated eyelashes that caused their Sims not to be able to go to work.😲🤣

They assured me that it was a bug because eyelashes have nothing to do with jobs and that they have been using the eyelashes for a long time, but when they checked to see if the eyelashes were outdated, they found out that they were outdated and were able to download the updated version! 🙌

It is up to the CC and Mods creators to keep their items up to date with the game and up to users of their content to maintain all Mods and CC.

Also, you will need to delete the localthumbcache.package file in your game folder (found by going to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder) as the localthumbcache.package file can hold on to corrupted bits of data even if you update your CC/Mods.

Here is how you can test to see if your CC is causing the problem or not, and how to fix it:

Please do all of the following:

    1) Move the Mods Folder to your desktop

    2) Delete the localthumbcache.package file in the game folder.

    3) Fix you game in Origin by logging in and go to Library, then right-click on The Sims 4 and choose the "Repair Game" option from the list.  Wait until Origin finishes repairing all your packs and not just the base game. If you are on a Mac this will only repair the base game!

    4) Now, when you turn on your game again, it will create a new mods folder that will be empty.  Check to see if your game is now working without mods/CC.

    5) Now you can try adding back items from your Mods folder one at a time checking your game each time to see which item is causing your game to not work properly.  If you have a lot of items, you can try the 50/50 Method.

The CC creators will usually update the CC items and Mods after these updates, so when you find out which one is the culprit, you can get the updated version from whoever made that item of CC in the first place.  You should try these steps anytime you have problems in your game to rule out CC/Mods problems.  It is the responsibility of the Mods/CC creators to update their items anytime EA releases a patch/update, and it is the responsibility of the people who use Mods/CC to make sure they are using the most recent version. 😉

There is still a chance that this is a bug (but I was unable to find it in the compiled list of reported bugs in the Bug Report section of AHQ.).  Even if this turns out to be a bug, when you fill out a bug report it will ask you if you use CC or Mods anyway, so you will still have to do this either way.  They can't know if it is a new bug unless CC/Mods conflicts are ruled out.🙂

In the meantime, I will try to play a family with a baby and see if I can get the same results in my game! I do not play with Mods or CC . 😉

Please update us on your situation! 😇

    Update:

I played a household with a baby, and I was going to deal with them in Manage Households, but then I saw what something similar to what you saw but just in my Sims panel.🤨  A medium-toned baby was much darker in her thumbnail in the panel for the household in Live Mode!  I do remember hearing some people had this problem, but I hadn't played with babies in a while since I"ve been too busy exploring the last several packs and then I had  some real life matters to deal with.  I'm sorry for the confusion, but  when reading your post I was concentrating on the occurrence of this only in Manage Households, and didn't remember that it also happened to others in the thumbnails as well!  🤭

It is still always a good practice to see if your CC/Mods are outdated and to maintain them and delete your localthumbcache.package file.  But I think this is probably the same bug .🤔  I didn't find a Bug Report on it, but i might have just looked in the wrong area.
