Re: Pre Ordered Cottage Living

@vansaddict10  Cottage Living will be released July 22.  The time of release for expansion packs is usually midnight at some location within your region, e.g. all of North America gets to play at midnight Eastern time.  Pre-ordering doesn't change when the pack is available.

I don't mean to hijack - the last pre-order I did showed as such, but I pre-ordered this not long ago but it doesn't show that I did and gives the option to buy. I've read other topics where people have had the same issue (with already released games), and understand the pack isn't out yet. Not sure if i should contact support in the next week or so or just wait. Just curious if it's different this time around with the new expansion from others. Thanks for any help, if you know (if others have had this happen w/this) of course!

@whatsausernamex  For many new games, the money isn't taken from your account until between one and two weeks before release.  I don't know whether that's the case here, or whether it depends on your location.  But regardless, I'd wait about a week, check your bank statement, and then contact support.  Since the pack won't be out for a while, it's certainly nothing to worry about right now, and if there is an issue, you should be able to resolve it as easily a week from now as today.

I'm having the same issue that I pre-order Cottage Living and they still didn't take the money out of the account. When I go to my EA games account, it still said that I have to pay for it. What's the point of pre-order if it's not locking already? And how long until they take the money out? Because I don't want to buy two Cottage Living if I only have one computer🤨

I get that the money won't be taken from my account any time soon, I'm just seriously thrown on the pre-ordered status i normally get when I've done so in the past. I have contacted support, and on their end they see it as being pre-ordered and pending as of last Saturday and was told if it still hows the same within a week to re-open the ticket. Just hoping there isn't an issue and all is well by launch day. Thank you for your response!

Given that it won't be released for over a month, the money won't be taken right away, as is what's happened with prior releases. I too have the option to buy the expansion pack even though I did already, but after contacting support, I was told I should re-open the ticket if it shows the same after a week. if you haven't contacted them yet, I suggest you do to make sure there's no problems (my concern) with the pre-order. As @puzzlezaddict said, I'm sure that by launch day it will be straightened out.

Well, it is 07/15/2021 and the funds still have not been deducted and the EP is still showing that I need to purchase. When will this be resolved? Sorry for replying to your post but I just wanted to add my 2 simoleons to the pot 🙂

  • I pre ordered mine in June and was charged immediately. I use PS4 tho, not sure if that makes a difference 🤷‍♀️

@whatsausernamex When I worked for Macy's and a few other retail stores in my mid 20's , Macy's always had this pre-sale , customer would come in and use their charge card to have us hold the merchandise but we wouldn't charge them until the day of the sale. I believe this is the similar way it's being done too

@Meela_Pasht , I don't know for sure (I don't work for EA), but there is the possibility that it is reserving your purchase and the funds might be deducted from your account the moment the EP is relased and you start actually downloading it! 😉

Thanks for the info 🙂  That may be it. It's just that they have never done this with me before. Oh well, time will tell and I do have receipts 🙂

I don't think people understand my frustration. I have to cancel the order and then reorder a week before the release. I also had to set up my PayPal account to make sure I won't drop below for $40. And this is the week of the release and they still did not take the money out of my account. Also, I use that PayPal account and it still works on other games. Maybe Cottage Living is very different. Who knows.

My question is why they have the pre-order option and they don't take the money out immediately?

That means that I must have $40 until they feel like taking the money out? I want to call them on the phone but that's only for Star Wars, not Sims 4.

And I have looked at the other post; especially the one who report me for being the idiot. But why would I be posting again if it's always been resolved?

Pre-order is so you can start download the moment it is released.

Some countries have laws against charging for an order before it is shipped or some days before. It should be easy enough to remember to have a certain balance on the account.

@jpkarlsen but it's frustrating of keeping the money for them to take. Next time I'm not going to do a pre-order if they going to take their sweet time on taking the money. Go ahead take my XP points.

You should see it as a learning opportunity. Once you grow up and move to your own place you will be grateful for having learned to make sure that there are enough money on you account for the bills.

@jpkarlsen FYI: I have my own place, I pay my own bills, and also got health issues that I have to deal with too. But since you still think I'm a childish as a 37 years old, take off the point then.

Don't know what point you are talking about.

As an adult I can't see why you should have a problem making sure that there are enough funds in your account to pay a bill that you know is coming. I do apologize for mistaking your age but it was an easy mistake to make.

  • @cth284 can you send a email??? i ordered over a month ago using my PayPal account and the money was taken straight away.
