What's the point of taking some guns?

What's the point of slow guns that require precision.

If you can just spam fast firerate SMG, AR or a shotgun?

  • I mean it is true you have a guy with say a slow fire rate but high accuracy and a guy with like the r-99 or somthing that's fast firing and * poor accuracy they can pump so many bullets your one bullet means nothing which kills it it's just turning the game into who has the best firerate guns just like cod is now which kills the fun of even having other guns

  • @damsonwhufndthis A good fair question, but ever blast someone with a single Peacekeeper shot? It just feels explosive. Sentinel sniper rifle has higher base damage than Longbow, and is capable of sapping entire shields when powered up. Even the Longbow over the G7 scout; The DMR has higher base damage and capable of deadly headshots with Skullpiercer -meaning you don't have to fire twice!

I bounce between faster weapons and slower ones myself

@StarMystroNo no no, firstly it's hard to hit, but let's forget that.

There is no weapon that can oneshot, the only 2 weapons that can oneshot are Peacekeeper and Kraber, and those are hard to obtain for the most of us.. at least in early stages.

You can headshot someone and turn their shield to dust, but that could be also the only shot you can hit.

And lastly, let's use an extreme example, you both use aimbot. Who wins? Guy who 2 shots you but the shots take a long time? Or a guy who sprays a whole magazine into you before you are mechanically able to fire the second shot off of your sniper rifle?

Now remove the cheats, and try aiming with a sniper with a long range scope attatched, vs someone who is dead close, best is to be god at flicks or no scope....

  • The balance between fast-firing and high DPS weapons, and slow-firing and high single-hit damage is broken in most games. Slow-firing weapons have a tendency to have lower DPS. That obviously impacts the overall fight when you account every bullet hitting. And on top of that, slower firing weapons are more punishing when you miss a shot. So not just do you have an added challenge to an already slower firing weapon, you also sacrifice overall DPS for it.

Generally I would like to say weapons such as the Wingman, G7 Scout and most snipers require a viability buff. But I know the answer to that already.

  • precision guns have to possibility to burst someone down a lot faster if you hit the head.

    example would be...

30-30: first shot fully charged is 100 to the head, followed by "old wingman-fast" 45 bodyhits.

There is potential to burst someone down before he even gets into the effective range for r99 or shottys.

i know that often the reality looks a bit different, but on paper thats why the guns are in the game.

there is no way some1 pushes you after you give him a headshot with a longbow or something similar.

  • @Triumphkutter Ranged take-downs in this game have little to no meaning, especially considering the Lifeline meta. So just because I manage to down two people of a squad with my Sentinel doesn't mean that it makes any difference for us. They'll crawl into cover, get revived, and till we get there they're at least on full shield again.

Every headshot in this game makes a weapon more powerful. Some weapons are just a bit more difficult to hit on the head. But not impossible. I've seen plenty of people already who gave me 3 consecutive headshots from 50 meters away with an R-99.

The only advantage a slow-firing and high damage weapon has is that you can peek more efficiently.

@Triumphkutteryou forget the bigger nubmers, this is a classc example of tunnel vision

Getting first shot headshot with any sniper like weapon and than swapping to faster firing secondary sounds op.

Well firstly you have to hit that shot, but let's say you do.

You forget the accounting of other guy's weapon, and if he plays meta, before you swap to any secondary weapon, he will spray you down with R-99.

Just because it's an SMG, doesn't mean it can't be used longer range, I know same applies for snipers, but than again, 3x+scope at point blank at a fast moving enemy that's trying to dodge all the time is very hard to hit, also since this game is not hitscan, you can still miss at point blank with your slow firing weapon.

Also your last point, I've seen many many, literally 99% of the playerbase, doesn't care if they are full HP red shield or if they have 1hp, these guys will try to kill you no matter how much hp, bullets, healing or anything.

This game is a sweat fest, and probably still will be, since matchmaking technicaly doesn't work in this game unless everyone was playing consistantly at least few games a day, there will always be someone too good for their current rank..
