@reconzero Eh if that were the case then players would play even more recklessly. If only three players will be rewarded no matter how well everyone else played then what's the point? Fighting hard and getting 2nd place will mean just as much as being the first team knocked out.
I'd rather keep the system as it is but your kill points only multiply if you satisfy two conditions.
#1. Place top 10.
#2. Have a minimum kill total of 3 (or 5 whatever the community prefers.)
Slayers who aren't foolish enough to die in stupid ways rank up faster. Players that hide rank up slowly until they hit a wall. Slayers with no game sense bob up and down going nowhere.
Obviously I want no limit on kills points if that isn't already a thing. Would only worry about players boosting their rank but better players need to advance to their natural rank faster.

@Asmodeus566the nice thing about math is, i can use it too to prove my point :
10 kills for 5th 160+45 makes 205 and the 1st got 175 Points with 2 Kills which is a very likely scenario, equals kills outscore placement.
The math doesnt lie.
In the End, its a Battle Royal and the Point System was changed to fit the game type.
Before you could play it as TDM and get decent points no matter the placement,
now you have to play it as a BR otherwise you wont profit until a certain placement threshold is reached.

i dont see where 175 points for 1st outscores 205 points for 5th place.
Placement only matters until you reached the threshold, then you can score higher with more kills than somebody placed higher with less kills. so placement isnt really greater as KP as you describe.
Would be nice to have the numbers on how many 2nd placed got more RP than the actual winner of the round. Sounds like an awful gaming experience tbh

Good for you if you played with a 3 stack and won all your games, great. But for solos like myself, I don't have the luxury and the feeling of entitlement. So it is difficult to relate. They should have at least separated the 3 stacks with randoms on both pubs and rank.
- @reconzero I'm glad you're not in charge. Arenas is already run with the rp tied into winning or losing.
And it sucks. All it does is create an even more toxic environment.

Personally I don't think kills or placement should be more important than the other.
Why should getting to 5th placement with no kills have better rp rewards than say coming in 6th with 3 kills?
That's kind of * up that the dude who hid most the game gets more points.
Having kills mean less has basically turned ranked into rat and scan meta paradise.
In a game where being the best and coming out on top is priority, placement and kills should be hand in hand with winning being the most important, and appropriate bonuses for team survivability, and things like revives. - reconzero3 years agoSeasoned Ace@XxColdFangxX

You know what would fix this problem? RP for wins and only for wins.
Also please talk more about how a win-focused ranking system creates a more toxic environment. I'm not being a smart *, I just don't play ranked (because I consider the entire idea toxic) so I'm not really in a position to know the finer points. I believe someone else already mentioned about why that in fact would not work well and I 100% agree that it would just make people stop playing ranked in general as it's part of the reason why i really don't play ranked.
Honestly thought it was obvious but that would be due to the added pressure from a win only rewards system.
Pvp games especially ones like apex already have a certain level of toxicity, even in pubs, it's not really avoidable, but the more pressure that's added to do well, the more it incorporates player toxicity.
In ranked game modes there is already an added pressure to do well because of the rewards gain and the potential to climb to higher level tiers.
With a win only rewards like they have done in arenas, it pretty much maxes out that pressure because now in order to get anywhere, your whole team has to play like gods.
There's no benefit for doing well yourself or carrying your team so a lot of people just look at their teammates, automatically decide they're no good, and just don't even try.
As a player who is around the lower end of being decent, I've been on both ends where I do very well in a match, get like 1k damage, 4 kills, 2 assist, and know the frustration for getting nothing for how well I did because we lost the match. The other team just being better or because my teammates couldn't hold their own. Losing out on something you tried your hardest to earn and not getting even a portion of what your could have earned, because lack of team strength makes people want to lash out.
I've also been on the end where I've played like absolute trash and do deserve 0 for how I played, but then my teammates are in the position above. They would have done very well and got nothing. And when people do well and still lose they start looking for the reasons why, and when they see the teammate with the lowest amount of damage, what do you think happens?
Let the cursing begin, because how dare you hold them back and for some reason they're entitled to voice their toxic opinion because you lost them the match.
A win only rewards system does very little to entice team work..sure it makes you want to get the win all the more, but it causes backlash when your team fails.
It doesn't mean you're going to communicate anything with your team or even try to work together, I've gone entire matches without a word or a ping from anyone until the match is over, and it's just them cursing for losing.https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Feedback/Ranked-arena-idea/m-p/11955289#M99629
I had my own idea for a ranked rp system, but it would only work for arenas. I know it's still flawed but the idea of it is to keep those players that belong in higher tiers, in those tiers, makes it a bit harder to climb so players who don't belong in those teirs don't reach them, and hopefully adds a little inconvenience to smurfs.
